Mondo Pasta – “So good you can’t let go!”
Stop Programming Me!
Why do I call these the 50 cleverest ads ever? Some years back I learned that advertisers don’t actually care what we think, only that we remember their product. Because, through sheer repetition, their ads program us to buy! So, I vowed then and there that before I’d buy “please-don’t-squeeze-the” Charmin toilet paper, I’d use old magazine pages (preferably the ones with Charmin ads). On the other hand, when an ad campaign is truly clever, it’s like finding fresh-baked cookies on your laptop. Therefore, to these 50 advertisers who respected us enough to treat us as though we actually had brains (and funny bones), “Thank you for the cookies!”

All of them are great!
But i loved the first, about sugar-free candies and the one about pasta
I have not ventured forth into the content of this post. I wanted to post what I think is an important acknowledgement before I do so. A praise to the late Stan Freberg, who is obviously a MAJOR influence on you. Please consider my calling you a child of Stan Freberg as a compliment of the highest honor.
At the corner of Beverly Glen and big Santa Monica Blvd between Century City and West Los Angeles (here in Los Angeles) there used to be a market, the Beverly Glen market, that had a hot food area. My oldest daughter loved their crab salad. One day I bought myself a slice or two of turkey before heading off to an evening word processing gig I had, this was back in the 80s. Lo and behold, in walks Mr. Freberg. I was gobsmacked!!!! I managed to acknowledge him, to praise and thank him. One of my fondest memories.
Do you know that the archive list of tags on the right side of your blog does not include Mr. Freberg? Clearly an oversight as his memory, his influence and his particular point of view is all over your blog, and this entry which I shall now investigate.
THANK YOU
Yes! The album “Stan Freberg Presents The United States of America” had a big influence on my sense of humor when I was a kid. I also loved the “John and Marsha” bit.
Wow! (Windows 10. Yes, we finally upgraded.)
;>)
These are hilarious, at least the one’s I get. And timely. And marvelous.
Thanks for the wonderful waste of time.
Four posts of this blog I have seen, four posts I loved.
Delighted to hear that, Arthur, and good to meet you.
They’re thoughtful and fun. Thankyou Mitch.
My pleasure, Iba.
I love the ones that took me a minute to see the detail that made them.make sense.
The dual billboard, with pizza and a woman eating, has disturbingly large hands. I know it’s AI, but I still would have tweaked it till the hands looked proportional!
Actually, it’s an older pre-AI era ad, Leenda, but her fingers and the pizza slice are 3D, so that’s probably the why they look so large.
Ohhhh!!!!
Very clever!
I love the smoking wine in the cemetery
I gather you meant to type “line,” Mark. Me too.
All thanks to the Mad Men lol
They’re unique, that’s for sure!
😂 The Weight Watchers one was hilarious.
Great, Mitch.
Glad you enjoyed it, John.
thanks so much for these, i used to work in advertising and have always loved good ads – many creative kudos to these
My pleasure, Beth.
LOLOLOL!
Funny!
They are clever indeed Mitch. Very nice collection! The “Lilliputian” carrot was one of the more creative ones I thought.
Very inventive, Mitch 😁But I have to say the ship takes the biscuit, for me 😁
Fabulous selection of advertisement memes, Mitch. “Bark in the Park” is a real hoot, and the “Bed and Breakfast” is clever. 🙂
Great collection and a very enjoyable viewing!
A marketing and media analysis post—examining a memorable advertisement (“Mondo Pasta – So good you can’t let go!”) and exploring how clever ads influence consumer behavior, perception, and decision-making through persuasive psychological techniques. 📺🧠✨📖
All the links are broken.
What links are you referring to, Kent?
Ants turning away from candy😃🎉
The non-smoking and no parking zone. Those two got me. They caused me to stop. And, think. I do neither. But, if I did. They would be very moving.
Yeah, there were a few serious pieces that just deserved to be here, Ben.
