Running the Race Set Before Me

It’s true, Jesus is my hero. But he’s so much more than that. And, yes, I’m aware that some (non-historian) people believe he never existed. Or that he was only loosely based on an obscure, deluded rabbi. And then later reinvented via the writings of unknown religious zealots, or even ghost-writers hired by Roman Emperors.

But if that is so, someone needs to explain to me how the most compelling, profound, influential person in all of human history — the only person whose words, character and, yes, presence have been able to utterly transform my life — is a lie. So much so, in fact, that if he were fictional…

I would still follow him.

Life transforming, personal testimony, well said, let’s keep running

  2. BJ says:

Wow Mitch, this was very deep and profound! May the Lord richly bless you sir for your unwavering testimony of Jesus Christ! ✝️🕊

  3. BJ says:

Indeed, the transformative power of Jesus Christ is proof that not only is Jesus Christ real but He’s alive and He’s living in everyone who’s sincerely repented and genuinely accepted Him. ✝️🕊

  4. firewater65 says:

You have summed up my thoughts about Jesus brilliantly.

  5. BJ says:

That’s very interesting, Roman Emperors, the very ones that severely persecuted Christians and tried to wipe out the Name of Jesus and Christianity?

  6. BJ says:

If God can change me He can change anyone. I too stand and say because He changed me and He changed my wife is irrefutable empirical evidence that Jesus lives, and that He heals and transforms lives. This is only one proof that Jesus is real and that He lives. But this too is my personal testimony, and every Christian should have a personal testimony of the goodness and greatness of God.

  7. Sue Cass says:

Amen. Me too. He absolutely changed my life. Praise be to God through Jesus.

  9. Any Element says:

You set the race and grab the star

  10. sashiengland says:

I couldn’t possibly run a greater race. To run it is to be kind. To run it is to be a lending hand, a listening ear, a shoulder to lean on. To run it is to be a part of something far bigger than me.

  11. SanVercell says:

I love this post. My sentiments exactly!

  12. Love this post, Mitch! I would still follow him also!

  13. Courageous testimony, Mitch. 🙂

  14. mjeanpike says:

Jesus is so wonderful. He surely changed this girl’s life 🙂

  15. There are no words good enough for Jesus!

  16. Di Houle says:

I am not Christian, but grew up in a church (whether it was a non-denominational or Mormon.) I turned to other religions to study. I still believe in Jesus.

It was Tim Schmalz art work that brought me back to the Bible, but not dogmatic religion. I prefer to experience the spiritual in the experience of existence. I don’t need a group of people telling me I’m going to Hell.

  17. I love this! Especially the ending, I would still follow Him too. I had this conversation with myself yesterday after watching a faith based movie and that was my conclusion.

  18. Ann Coleman says:

Yes! All the arguments against Jesus can’t hold up to the obvious influence he has had throughout the world. Not that we need proof, because, as you say, we’d follow anyway…..and be the better for it!

  19. Danny*Fantod says:

Yeah, that last part. I heard a speaker say that even if it were proven to be false, his life was so much better for believing that he would continue to believe.
