There’s Nothing Better in the Spring Than…
A walk in the woods. We’re blessed to live in an area known for its wooded parks. And so, weather allowing, on most Sunday afternoons Trudy and I will hit the trails, camera phones blazing. I captured these images at three local woodlands, one of which, Mt. Airy Forest, is less than a mile from our home.

Gorgeous photos of nature.
Thank you, Mags.
These are such beautiful photos!
Thank you, trE!
These are gorgeous. I can’t believe you took them with a camera phone!
🧡
Beautiful. In the Ozark, we stay out of the woods in spring (ticks) or dress in tick proof clothing and spray ourselves down with chemicals. It’s still very beautiful and crazy people like me think the precautions are worth it but for people who want to wear their shorts and flip-flops, it’s a miserable time of year. lol
There are ticks her too, Pamela, although not as bad as that.
lol well, they thin out when the weather gets hot. In fall, they pretty much disappear. In winter, they are gone for sure so, it isn’t as bad as people can make it out to be. I think their purpose is to protect young green plants from being trampled.
Looks heavenly 😊
Thank you for sharing your walk with us!
My pleasure, Pauline!
What a beautiful forest! I can almost picture you enjoying a pleasant stroll. By the way, are there any bears? In Japan, bears become very active in various places from spring onwards, attacking people and causing quite a fuss. 🐻😓
No bears in these woods, Yosi. They’re in parks close to the city. (Did I get your name right?)
It’s great that there are no bears. I can stroll around without worry. My name is “asamoyosi,” but you can call me “yosi” if you like. ☺️
Thanks, Asamayosi.
😊
Your images beautifully exemplify the vibrant colors of spring. Thanks for sharing, Mitch. 🙂

“This looks like the perfect way to spend a Sunday afternoon! 🌿 Springtime in the woods is so magical, and your photos captured that peaceful energy beautifully. Thank you for taking us along on your walk! ✨
My pleasure, Praveen.
“Thank you, Mitch! I’m glad you enjoyed it. It was such a beautiful day to be out.”
When I read your post title, I was reminded of the book with the same name by travel author, Bill Bryson. I also saw the movie made from that book (about his attempt of the Appalachian trail). It looks like you live in a lovely area, Mitch. The air is always so much cleaner where there are lots of trees.
🧡
Beautiful!
Thank you, Sarah.
Beautiful photos!! Feels like I went on a walk in those amazing woods!
I’m so glad you enjoyed the “walk,” Paul.
A ramble in the woods is especially lovely in spring.
Makes me wish I were back in Cincinnati, brother! LOVED walking in the woods with friends. Last visit I was able to enjoy it, and am grateful. Blessings!
And blessings to you, dear Anne!
We are spending this weekend in the woods. So peaceful.
Wonderful. Enjoy, Kelley.
Beautiful photos, Mitch. Makes me want to go on a walk through some of our parks and wooded areas. I live in London Ontario which has been named the Forest City. We have many beautiful park areas and conservation areas. I have hundreds of photos I have taken in the past. Unfortunately I cannot walk like I used to without much pain, so now I must be content with pictures to remind me of those past strolls with friends. Thanks for sharing.
🧡
Beautiful images! Thank you for sharing.
