A man where I live died. But he’s feeling much better now. In 2013, Anthony Yahle went into cardiac arrest and was rushed to Kettering Medical Center. Doctors tried for 45 minutes to restart his heart. They finally called “time of death” and informed his family. Until then, the longest-delayed cardio reboot without reducing the patient to a vegetative state was 38 minutes, and in that case hypothermia (freezing) had been induced to preserve the brain cells. If Anthony had lived, they said, his brain would have been like a wiped hard drive.
But his son refused to accept the facts. As members of the family church prayed, Lawrence ran down the hall to the operating room, shouting, “Dad, you’re not going to die today!”
At which point, according to cardiologist Dr. Raja Nazir, a “miracle” occurred. “It was mind boggling,” Nazir said — the dead man’s electrical functions simply started back up. And a short time later, Anthony left the hospital with no signs of brain damage.
Do miracles always occur when people pray? No. The Apostle James was executed, no doubt despite the urgent prayers of the church. But a short time later, the Apostle Peter was miraculously saved from the exact same fate. The difference? God’s will.
Faith doesn’t do miracles, God does. A friend of mine, a fellow professor at BIOLA University, was told her “last stage” cancer had metastasized and was now “beyond treatment.” But Roxanne calmly replied, “Oh, I’ll be fine.” She knew that faith wasn’t magic, that only the Creator of all things can do miracles. But her praying friends had all received the same word from God: “Roxanne is not going to die.” And so she believed it.
At her next check-up, all signs of cancer were gone. Her flabbergasted doctor admitted, “This is completely impossible.” Roxanne’s reply? “I know it is. For you and for me.
But with God all things are possible.”

This post beautifully highlights the balance between faith and surrender to God’s will.🙏🌷
Thank you for sharing all of that! I am saddened when some churches teach you may not have enough faith and that’s why you’re sick… faith doesn’t heal us, God does!
I know what you mean, Nicole. Faith is a relationship, not a formula.
Praise God for His unending mercy.
Amen, Anonymous.
The sheer confirmation over and over again for believers is astounding!
“At her next check-up, all signs of cancer were gone. Her flabbergasted doctor admitted, “This is completely impossible.” Roxanne’s reply? “I know it is. For you and for me.

Thank God! I love that you shared these with us, Mitch! Thank you for doing so.
My privilege, trE.
Because so many need hope and truth I’ve put this on my F.B. Thank you for sharing.
My privilege, Sue, and I’m glad you shared it with others.
Yes, with God all things are possible! I love these 2 stories you shared. We should always pray even when things look impossible.
Very true, Janet.
Stone truth 👌
I love that line, “Faith doesn’t do miracles, God does.” Too many people have told me people weren’t healed because I didn’t have enough faith. A friend who recently lost her husband to cancer told me, “People told me to pray for a miracle; the miracle was that we found Jesus because of the cancer.” They had rejected Jesus for more than 40 years until he was diagnosed with cancer.
Indeed, Chris, the redemption of a soul is far greater than any physical healing.
“Faith doesn’t do miracles, God does.” Exactly right.
The list of amazing healings, saves and other miracles is so long nobody could read it in a lifetime. Never give up. With God all things are possible. And yes, it IS God’s will that matters, but we also have to ASK! If the answer is “No,” then the No will lead to something even BETTER for us (like Heaven, maybe?).

Years ago, I read an account about a young man of faith who was told he would likely die within a day or two from his aggressive cancer. He became euphoric about meeting Jesus as he prayed with his family and friends that his cancer vanished and he lived. 🙂
What a beautiful post, Mitch. It’s incredible how much is possible, so long as we believe.
Faith doesn’t do miracles, God does – Yes and Amen!
Great stories! It’s a shame stuff like this doesn’t make mainstream news.
This post blessed my soul. Thank you.
A reminder that I needed today.
🙏🏼 Amen.
Seeing God do what only God can do wakes up those who experience
it.
Momo and me always pray when we have a surgery. She went through one last week and our Pastor Alan got a prayer chain going. She pulled through fine and is recovering better than expected. Thanks for the great post.
My privilege, Phil.
Nice
Thank you, Sciencegajab.
Amen!
I had many miracles occur in my life. It was by the hand of God and I was so happy I cried.
We have a saying in Hebrew “God doesn’t work for us”.
A Rabbi once said, in response to the question” Does God answer prayers? ” that no is also an answer.
Yes and yes. Although, I’m afraid you won’t see this reply since WordPress has labelled you Anonymous.
Beautiful post Mitch. I was given up for dead 4 years ago during a Covid infection. Stayed for 4 months in the hospital. Doctors – including my mom and 2 sisters – had already cried over me but the Lord told my wife to be patient because He would heal me. And He did. My doctors couldn’t believe it. Today my wife is battling what others would consider is a terminal illness but twice the Lord assured her she would live. And we continue to believe Him. “Do not be afraid. Just believe.” – Mark 5:36 (Leo)
What a wonderful testimony, Leo and Nina!
I love this story, Mitch. Thanks for sharing it. God is always there.
Amen, and thanks, Nancy.
