  1. Such a dreadful necessity. Our minister recently preached that God does not provide that dreadful things won’t happen to us. His promise is that He will be with us. Well , Mr. God that doesn’t help us at all so don’t bother. Jesus already paid the price. Already absorbed the suffering . Allegedly. I thought our covenant initiated teamwork. . Allegedly. Seems death provides the relief not God. The circumstance makes us bitter. The faith evaporates and many join the ranks of the “God is dead” existentialists. Oh, and that Job story provides no understanding and comfort so skip that allusion.

Seems you’ve segued onto the topic of “why God allows suffering,” Carl. A big topic to be sure. Wish I had time to talk with you further about it, Carl. There are answers.

      • Oh, that “Why do bad things happen to good people?” book, the hope expressed by such as Victor Frankl and much of the rest – I’ve been there. And that unmerited suffering stuff too. To some degree I have become embittered as is apparent and am somewhat ashamed of myself for having and expressing the feelings. Be assured I’ll be at my old Presbyterian church tomorrow for the 11 AM service. It is not necessary to illiminate me so please do not feel obligated and please continue with your planned posts. I always feel recharged and the end of the church. service. Thanksgiving time is healthy for me as it brings thoughts of our beloved 1620 Pilgrims and their hardships and suffering that never could put a scratch on the pillars of their temple of Christ in faith and perseverence. No evil or misfortune could crush their Christian spirit. My wave of doubt will diminish and recede like the ocean’s tides.

  2. Mitch! You have summarized my thoughts on the 2024 presidential election in one sentence. 🤗

If we look at eternity, this thought; “There are times we must face the unbearable now in order to avoid an even more unthinkable future.” means life now and eternal choices. Jesus came to offers us eternal life in Him. All He asks in return is our love back.

  4. I love the picture you chose. What’s the story behind it, if any?
