Touching Base With My Friends

First, allow me to apologize. I’ve been out of town most of the last two weeks, and have had little time to visit my blogging friends’ sites. So I feel the need to touch base with you now, because you are my friends, In fact, some of you are surprisingly dear ones, and others are friends-in-the-making. I never dreamed when I launched this site almost seven years ago that I’d form actual friendships; that when I posted, I’d be thinking, “Oh, A—— will relate to this,” or “I hope this speaks to what G——‘s going through,” or “Hah, this will really bust L—— up!” But that’s exactly what has happened.

So thank you for being patient and sticking around, my friends!

Two weeks ago, I was in Dallas for a filmmaker’s award ceremony. My feature film Healing River was nominated in four categories and won a bronze award for Best Evangelistic Film. More importantly, I had some great heart-to-heart talks with people. Plus, I had a terrific first in-person meeting with the publisher of an in-the-works comic books series based on my feature film Notzilla.

Last week, I was on location playing a small-but-amusing role, the amazingly clueless Bishop Wisp, in a film produced, crewed, and acted by numerous old and new friends. Shooting this broad comedy, The Pope Drops In (all I can tell you is that the Pope is one of the good guys), was truly a hoot.

But now it’s catch-up time!

    Because of my health (or lack of), social media has been my “ticket out of the house.” God works in mysterious ways, as my website has done just what yours has–connect with kindred spirts in such a way that we’ve become friends.

    It’s also how I’ve been able to notice writing/stories that needed to be shared with Our American Stories out of Oxford, Mississippi, which is a God-nudged notion that positive American stories can made a difference during all the negativity looking to swallow the nation. If God is part of these stories, they are included!

    Your work is a big part of this shedding of light!

    Mitch, I’m glad to call you my friend AND brother in Christ. My wife shakes her head, “You don’t really KNOW these people, David.” “Okay, okay,” I say. “I don’t know Mitch Teemley personally, but his words make me think, laugh and choke up—sometimes all in the same post.” And that means 😊.

    I don’t see any need to apologize for having a life outside the blogosphere.

    Glad that *HR* won an award, *N* will spawn comic books, and U can still go in front of a camera as well as behind it (or behind the guy directly behind).  That last image of U as Bishop Wisp is a nice bit of acting: the character does look clueless, tho U are not.

    I wish I had known you were in Dallas. I’m thirty miles away i Fort Worth, Texas (we’re not sure Dallas is really part of Texas…) Lately it seems that if it has little to do with farming I’m completely out of the loop.
