Healing River is Here!

A Filmmaker’s Journal

Healing River PosterHealing River, a feature film I wrote and directed (originally titled Over-the-Rhine) has just premiered on Amazon Prime–and right on time for your weekend Movie Night! (Even if you’re not a Prime member you can watch it by clicking on the link below.) Winner of over twenty film festival awards, nominations and selections, Healing River is a powerful inspirational story about “forgiving the unforgivable.” You can watch the trailer now, and then watch (or order a copy of) the movie by clicking here.

Watch the Trailer!

Two Ways You Can Help Promote Healing River:

  1. Watch it, and then take a moment to review it on Amazon* (this will greatly increase its priority order and visibility there).

  2. Go to the Healing River Facebook Page and click to Share the Trailer on your Facebook page.

I and Healing River’s other creators believe in what it has to say and would like as many people as possible to see it.Β  Blessings till it hurts!Β  ~Mitch

*Also consider reveiwing it on Rotten Tomatoes, IMDb and/or other movie sites.

  9. A physical DVD would work better for me than a download from Amazon.  Will there be a physical DVD later?

Just got done watching the movie. It’s a beautiful summation of all the themes you’ve shared here on your blog, Mitch. I’m very glad you found an opportunity to express your heart in such a creative and moving way.

I won’t go into a full-blown review, and certainly won’t spoil anything, but here’s just a couple notes of what stood out most to me:
Rupert Spraul blew me away with his performance on multiple occasions, I was shocked to see how short his film history was on iMDB after seeing that performance.
I was incredibly moved by the song Impossible Love. I listened to it when you shared it in a previous blog post, but felt it so much more with how you wove it into the story. It was, simply, beautiful.

Also, Sgt. Early might be the greatest thing I’ve witnessed all year πŸ˜€

Abe, I’m delighted at your response! Rupert is one of those most gifted young actors I’ve ever worked with Healing River was his first film, but he’s very active in theatre.. And Mike Hall (Sgt. Early) is quite the comedic genius. Both were a joy to direct. Would you be willing to do an Amazon review? It can have a real impact on the film’s future.

Actually I did leave one, at the same time that I left my comment here. But instead of posting it right away I got the following message from Amazon

“We are processing your review. This may take several days, so we appreciate your patience. We will notify you when this is complete.”

I’ve never seen that when leaving a review on Amazon before. Any idea why it’s not being sent right through?

Just saw your comment about Amazon’s “processing” message. No, I don’t know why they did that; other reviews from last night have already shown up.

Again congrats! I watched it on Amazon Prime. And as promised the movie review is on my site. I am not a movie reviewer for the NY Times or Chicago Post, but would appreciate you stopping by to give your opinion. I must confess—the film was amazing. Again, congrats to a job well done! Hey folks, may I encourage you to check out my friend Mitch Teemley and give some serious thought about watching his movie this week?

Mitch is a Christian blogger, but he’s also a movie guy – like as in making them, not just watching (like the rest of us). I’m going to watch it this week with my wife, then I’m going to share my honest thoughts about it.

Let’s all watch it and give God the glory for what he’s doing through our brother in Christ, Mitch!

God bless you, my friend! Maybe He will even throw in an Oscar πŸ™‚

Mitch you done the world a huge favour by making such a film. For all people. I’m dealing with the exact same scenario right now. Death is so painful but won’t bring our loved ones back. I’m thanking you in a very personal level.

  32. Just watched the movie with my husband, and we loved it! This movie has great acting and a dramatic story that kept our attention throughout. We enjoyed the music too! You are a very talented man, Mitch! And God will use this movie to help people and teach about forgiveness. I reviewed it on Amazon (5 star) and I will share about it on social media. I hope tons of people watch it!

I’m so glad you enjoyed it, Janet! If you get a chance, please jump over to IMDb and rate it there, as well. We were attacked by internet trolls who gave it the lowest rating possible, even though they haven’t seen it, and are counting on people who have to correct the ranking. Blessings.
