At church yesterday, I was talking to a friend whose father was in the landings at Normandy. His dad was the only survivor in his platoon, and carried some shrapnel the remainder of his life. My dad was slightly younger, joining the Marines in 1946 at the age of 17, but he did survive Korea and Viet Nam.
I have to confess I’m a bit concerned about how the percentage of Americans with a connection to military service is declining. Having a loved one in uniform forces a person to take far more seriously the reasons for their deployments and missions.
May we respectfully remember those who gave their lives for our freedoms. Thanks for sharing the Lewis quote along with the powerful Viet Nam memorial photo, Mitch.
Oh, Mitch. I love this quote so much (I was going to add this one). When I was at the National Cancer Institute in Maryland I had the opportunity to visit the Memorials. Seeing the names and “feeling” all the courage…it touched my heart. I’m so grateful. Thank you for sharing this, dear friend!
💯💐
Happy Memorial Day! I am grateful for the courage of the men and women who fought for our freedom. Be blessed!
Thank you, San!

I hadn’t thought of that, but you make an excellent point, Rob.

Yes!
That is powerful, and not one of Lewis’ quotes I was familiar with.
You too, Mitch.
