Thought for the Week
It’s National Boss Day in the U.S.!* Yay! Maybe. To borrow an old bit:
-
“I quit because of religious differences.”
-
“Oh, yeah?”
-
“Yeah, my boss thought he was God. And I disagreed.”
Good leaders strive to find the delicate balance between leading and listening. If your boss has found that balance, celebrate them today, and tomorrow, and… And if they haven’t found it, earnestly pray for them…
Or hire a hit man (kidding…seriously).
* Also in Canada, Lithuania, Australia, India, and South Africa. So buy your boss some maple syrup or borscht, or some Vegimite or a spicy curry, or…?

I’m retired. My boss IS God!
;>)
Amen!
Voltaire was a very astute fellow!
I am my own boss now, so I think I’ll treat myself to something special today. Have a wonderful week ahead.
Thank you, Kellye, you too. And glad to see you treat your boss so well, btw.
I am extremely fortunate because I presently have a great boss and a wonderful customer (I am a contractor) who leads me into what I should be doing for him.
Hmm-maybe you should be getting your wife a card and taking her out to dinner. 🙂
;>)
I tried to be that leading/listening boss when I was a manager. Some of my former employees have said that I did that well. Gratifying to hear.
Then kudos to you, sir!
Well… my boss is my wife. And she is a great boss (most of the time)!
We’re both retired and we are blessed to be active in ministry together. We make a good team! So technically, God is our boss. And He is a great Boss all of the time! His compensation package cannot be beat! 🙂
As a newly minted (at least officially) leader, I concur: if you’re not listening, you’re not leading. And if others aren’t listening–when you talk–you’re REALLY not leading.
Well said, David.
Oh yeah! I had that micromanager before. 😏
Voltaire was on to something!
He was indeed.
OMG… that’s funny but somewhat true.
Great share and thank you Mitchteemly for following me
Happy to do so, Dr. Prakash.
