    C. S. Lewis was a very wise man. I like his approach on God and religion and how we as humans must shell out in order to feel what we need to, what God wants us to. I think we need minds like his around so much more today.

  2. Mitch great subject. A related one for me is Tolerance. In my early career I had very little time for those who approached things differently from me. I often coach young people to be easier on themselves, Forgiveness, and more patient and open with others, Tolerance.

I love this quote from Lewis (and so much of his work!) but the word “tolerance” always puts up a yellow (caution) flag in my mind. God tolerates my immaturity, but at the same time (as His disciple) expects me to grow up. As such, it seems we SHOULD tolerate things in the world that we should NOT tolerate in the church; and there are things that AS the church, we should NOT even tolerate in the world. So that word is a bit too ambiguous for me, although at first sight it sounds beautifully utopic and inclusive, when in many instances it can be destructive.

  3. Mitch, with the anger and tension in our country right now, this is such an important topic! Yet, how often do we hear it discussed as part of any solution? Well done!

  4. Wise words indeed! Forgiving others is often a task in itself however forgiving ones self is often infinitely harder! Always look forward to your posts Mitch.

    Keep up the amazing work!

  6. Important words to hear, both to forgive ourselves and to offer it to others. Thanks, Mitch!
