Thought for the Week
While it is “more blessed to give than to receive” (Acts 20:35), it is also a blessing to learn how to receive. Many of us spend our entire lives striving to bless ourselves, making certain that all of our own needs–both real and imagined–are met.
When we do this, two things happen: First, with little or no time remaining, we steal from ourselves the great blessing of giving to others. Second, we steal from others the opportunity to be blessed by blessing us.
May we learn to be both graceful givers and grateful receivers.
“God is able to bless you abundantly, so that, having all you need, you will have plenty left over to share with others.” ~2 Corinthians 9:8

In India, as we were about to eat a simple meal, the Imam said “May the blessed bless this blessing.” Your post reminded me of that amazing time.
What a cool experience, Rita.
That depriving othets the blessing of giving is an intriguing thought Mitch. Thanks
My privilege, Pete.
When I try to give something, ( a gift) to someone else and they want to refuse, I say, “Don’t steal my blessing.”
;>)
This is so good. Letting people practice the art of blessing me is hard.
So true. Some of us also need to learn how to be a cheerful receiver.
Namely me.
Receiving is definitely hard for “self sufficient” types like me.
Lovely message, Mitch. 🙂
Thank you, Nancy.

Wonderful insight Mitch. One of the things we’ve discovered from ministering to the poor in our country is learning to receive from them. We like to think we’re helping them but in reality they have so much to give to us.
What a beautiful, godly attitude, Leo and Nina.
Mitch,
Amen to that. I have been doing more taking than giving. Not as much fun.
Thanks, Gary
