“Crossroads” (Diamond Consultants)
In Genesis 13, were told that Abram (whose spiritual legacy is immeasurable) and his nephew Lot had done exceedingly well as shepherds. So much so, that they needed to divide their flocks and lands. So Abram allowed the choice to be made by Lot (there’s a pun and a point there, btw).
Lot chose the land that looked the best. But Abram trusted God, and then gratefully built an altar to Him.
“And the Lord said to Abram after Lot had parted from him, ‘Look around from where you are, to the north and south, to the east and west. All of the land that you see I will give to you and your offspring forever. I will make your offspring like the dust of the earth, so that if anyone could count the dust, then your offspring could be counted.’” ~Genesis 13:14-16
I’ve learned to get the writing done and to leave the results are up to my Creator. I’ve been amazed and humbled at the reach of Grandma Leora’s stories, as well as the delightful feedback.

Abram left the choice to God, and the Lord honored his faith. Like you said, Lot looked better off at first. But God’s blessings were with Abram. So it was simply a matter of time.

Interesting thoughts there, Mitch. I make my decisions like a giddy 8-year-old, I’m impulsive and want 10c now rather than a dollar tomorrow. I have lived to regret it, Lol.

It is a great reminder of the importance of trusting God in ALL things and a great passage of scripture.
At the same time, it is the passage both sides in the current Middle East conflict point to as the reason the land belongs to THEM and not those other folks.

Yeah, I agree with that quote by Jim Elliot. It sure makes a difference when we have God leading us. Sure, we are human… there’s the power of choice, we have the right to make our decisions. But the final decision lies with God. Whatever we decide on should be as He wills. And like He did with Abraham, the best will surely come out of it.
