I had a particularly pompous college Literature prof who loved to pontificate. Once he’d made a pronouncement, there was simply nothing more to be said.
The class was aching to see him taken down. One day he proclaimed, “All books titled after characters are named for their protagonist (hero). Period.” He started rattling off examples: “Huckleberry Finn, Anna Karenina, Don Quixote, Oliver Twist…”
Then the class anarchist Stuart quietly muttered, “Moby Dick.”
The class stood and cheered.

That’s golden. 🤣🤣🤣
I love it, even as a teacher, when the Stuarts of the world are present. Those who think on their feet are the leaders of tomorrow.
Zing!! (You’d think that someone with advanced degrees would know better than to use the word “all” about literature.)
You’d think. But then pride is a very virulent virus (as is my disease, alliteration-aholism, apparently).
Yes, that alliteration-aholism can be insidious.
But if we did not have alliteration-aholics, we would never know that Peter Piper picked a peck of pickled peppers. And the world would be a poorer place.
You’re right, Linda, the planet would be a poorer place.
Love it and that would so be my kid! The college professors should look out! LOL!
the perfect balance!
Right on!… A ‘say it ain’t so’ er, a ‘you wanna bet’ er, a ‘well, I’ve got this to say’ er !! We need more ‘think outside the box’s ers, More ‘question everything’ ers – good-hearted non-conformists, if you will!
Bahahah – pride goeth before a fall indeed – good one.
Gotta love anarchy! ( not the absence of rules but the absence of rulers ) 😊
I think I took that prof’s class.
Where is the justice? And we were destined to learn from these guys. Ooops, lesson learned.
