Of all the flora upon the earth, none seem quite so human as trees. Endlessly varied, not only by species, but individually, they strive to find nourishment, to grow and produce offspring. They struggle to weather the storms of life, and yet when they sense their time has come, they surrender to the earth. They are persistent and steadfast, yet patient and peaceful. Perhaps that’s why they live so much longer than we do.

Interestingly after drought or times of stress trees produce an abundant crop of seeds as if they know their days may be numbered and they need to pass on their life to the next generation.
Fascinating. Preparing their legacy.
Trees!!! Where would we be without them. Judi Dench did an absolutely fabulous documentary about trees.

I didn’t realise how many trees I have never heard of – or how weird, they could have come from another planet. I love the gravestone trees, but now many people are dispensing with the gravestone and going straight to woodland burial sites!

‘Tis great to see appreciation for trees’ beauties & the essence each possess. They’re some of my favorite beings. : ) One thing I am certain to do in travels of any distance is notice particularly odd & beautiful trees. I get a little angry when people cut down/murder perfectly healthy ones with no apparent reason, such as their growing into power lines or pipes. Someone had a fabulous tree cut down where I once lived for aesthetic reasons…well, it looks awful & barren there now. It was a perfect mushroom shape with neat visible roots. I planted moss & a fern there to accentuate it. My wildlife friends appreciated it as well. I’m not a tree hugger type, but – wait… I actually did hug that tree when I moved : )
I confess, I’ve hugged a few trees, as well.

The introductory paragraph (which can stand alongside the quotes!) resonates with my own take on the persistent spirit of trees:
