Mitch a rare great management consultant once had us write our obituary. A most useful exercise especially when you are young enough to still change!
Brad
Indeed, far more than just a hopeful career summary, Brad.
I never know how a story will end when I start writing it. That’s the whole reason I’m writing it–to find out how it will end.
Agreed
Amen!
to that
This is a good reality check post. Mitch. Thanks!
“Begin with the end in mind.” Stephen Covey agrees with Mitch.
Exactly, David.
Great advice, Mitch!
Thanks a lot for the suggestion!
So far, so good-surrounded by grandchildren who love me with a third on the way in February, thank God.
Sounds wonderful, Bob!
Great advice…
Gracias, Francisco.
De nada Mitch!
With regard to writing a story, Mitch, it’s good to have in mind how you want it to end, but it’s also good to be open to an ending you hadn’t before imagined. That may be true of life, too.
Yes
This is easy when it is a memory of a life someone else has lived. Truth is sometimes stranger than fiction.
Thanks, Mitch. It’s a really good point to ponder… The best way of living your life is figuring out how you want it to end… somewhere in there is the mystery of not knowing the details, and the faith that trusts a god who does.
I truly love this. Thanks.
My pleasure, Maren.
Except my life will never end‼️ Like Billy Graham said about himself, “Someday you will read or hear that Billy Graham is dead. Don’t you believe a word of it. I shall be more alive than I am now. I will just have changed my address. I will have gone into the presence of God.”
Mitch: You do have a way with words! You are so wise too. You always get my attention with your wisdom!
Cora, is that you?
Wow, your original post sure created multiple perspectives… enjoyed them all, but have to agree with where you started… “The End” 😅
I noticed that too, Dori!
Hear, hear!

I’m afraid I have to disagree with you for once, Mitch. I had never known how the story would end when I started to write it. It’s always a pleasure to discover how it will end as the story unfolds.
I don’t know about the “best” way to write a story. It’s not the path I take. The story typically takes me, and it ends when it’s done. However, as I near retirement, I agree about life. I’m spending a lot of time thinking (worrying) about my golden years.
Very wise wisdom!
That’s the truth!
Good advice.
Absolute truth!
