Shoot for the Moon

“Shoot for the moon. Even if you miss you’ll land among the stars!”

This popular saying is actually a misquote of what Dr. Norman Vincent Peale originally said. The correct version should read:

“Shoot for the moon. But be careful because if you miss you’ll land in your neighbor’s backyard and end up getting shot at while you’re scrambling back over the damn fence!”

(Hey, even inspirational speakers have their off nights.)

  1. “Shoot FOR the moon.” Not “Shoot the moon.” Ah, I knew I was missing something when I was trying to explain it to the nice police officers that stopped by my house this weekend. Thanks!

Just a teensy bit off the original…

  5. Whenever Norman would speak, there usually was a reception for some of the attendees. After he would ready himself for reception and would enter the room, his sister and Wife would enter the room to announce in this near manner, “Norman is coming in the room, Norman is here!” Of course, his presence never needed to be announced. The man was amazing.

  6. I like it. Motivates you! 👍🙌😀
