Seeing the Extraordinary in the Ordinary

There's beauty in the ordinary--we just have to learn to see it

Thought for the Week

Beauty abides in common things

If only we choose to see it

And grace will turn our limbs to wings

If only we choose to free it

“Often, when we blame our artists for painting ugly things, they are but striving to show us a beauty to which we are blind.”

~Evelyn Underhill

Beautiful poem and insightful thought from Underhill.

  3. Ugly, common things – yes, they can be beautiful…. For me it’s people that some folk consider ordinary, unspectacular or even ugly are often more beautiful.

  4. Beautiful quotes to start the week. Thank you.

  5. I SO love this, Mitch! It stirs deep reflection to ponder the question: Doesn’t God do that same? As I ask Him daily to help me see people through his eyes, I have found HE sees that even the most pitiful, dejected, broken person has beauty. Sometimes He simply shares a vision of what they were ‘created’ to be, not what they ‘have’ become… like where He found me/us. And then, if somehow we can instill that Blessed Hope in them with a word or even just a smile, maybe it will help them to find that purpose for which they were created…even if it is just a seed of His love, mercy and grace planted in their hearts. And I hope that He uses my life and His love through me to do that, as His ambassador…even though there are still very pitiful parts of my life and soul that He’s still working to transform. It’s a journey! 😊🙌🏻✝️❣️

So true Mitch. Love the comments and that picture. I spent part of my day in a boat (yes, I was fishing) looking at spring waters trickling out of the side of a big hill into the lake. The water feeds the beginning of the Mississippi river and will end up in the gulf. I am mesmerized by those springs and what they do, where they go and what they symbolize to me…Pure springs of water.

  7. So beautiful! Both!

    So true…..
