Our Butterfly Effect

Our Butterfly EffectSeek First the Kingdom of God

Each of Us Has a Role to Play

It’s our butterfly effect. People tend to think of Matthew 6:33 as a promised reward for righteousness (or justice), and in a sense it is that. But it’s much more. It’s each of us playing our role in resetting this broken world, putting in motion the greatest butterfly effect in history!

  1. When I think about how 11 and then 12 again men (and their followers and sustainers!) re-set this world so that even I’d hear about it, I am more amazed by this than I am by the 153 caught fish that first-ish day, by the later tax-borne coin in the mouth of a later fish, and even by the multiplication of loaves and fishes enough for 5,000 and 3,000. And although there could humanly conceivably be other reasons for many miracles, raising back up to life someone whose death-stench after three days had set in, well!! And to think He says to us, “You have a part in this..” As you say, we each and all certainly do! Thank you for such a mostly happy reminder this morning, Mitch.

Groovy thoughts on a Sunday afternoon, mate! But perhaps the butterfly effect isn’t always us changing everything… sometimes it’s just finally noticing we were never the center of the weather system to begin with. 🏄‍♂️

  4. A beautiful observation.

Matthew 6:33 has been one of my favorite verses for decades. Thanks for sharing.

  6. “Beautifully put, Mitch! The perspective that seeking the Kingdom of God isn’t just a personal reward, but a way for each of us to set off a positive ‘butterfly effect’ to help heal a broken world is incredibly powerful. Thank you for this reminder! 🦋”

I do think on this verse a lot but applying it is also a struggle.
