It’s been a while since I posted animal pics. So here they are because, well, animals! I do have a theme, though. It’s right there in the title and, our lame humanocity notwithstanding, it’s basically true. And I’m so glad it is!

What would we do without animals? My favorite of these is the one about God wanting the person to have 2 dogs, and 13 it is. That would be me if we didn’t travel so much. Have a great weekend!

I don’t know that cozying up to a croc is a very good idea.
My favourite was the picture of the cat’s response to its owner who had miaowed at it. Reminded me of the time my husband tried to compliment our French host about his cheese. The hosts shocked expression was similar. What my husband had said was “your cheese tastes like a dog” rather than “your cheese tastes lovely”. 😂

Great photos, Mitch. My favourites are the man snuggling with a red fox and the dancing chickens. I’m not sure, however, if I’d want to get close to some of the other animals here, especially not the Boa. It’s huge! I’ve never seen one – are they really as big as in the photo? I enjoyed looking at these pictures.
Yes, boas are among the world’s larges snakes, although the one the boy is “cuddling” may actually be a python — they’re even larger.
Animals are fascinating and while I prefer the softy cuddly type, they all have a distinct beauty and fascination. Lovely post, Mitch.

Some of the most unusual pictures make me think of heaven, when we’ll get along with ALL the animals. I think it’ll be awesome to snuggle with a lion or leopard or bear and swim with sharks … there. Just not here, thank you.

Genesis would seem to indicate that it’s our world and they live in it. However, with that exalted position comes the responsibility to care for and steward nature’s resources.

I thought about that when I chose the title, Jay. But then I remembered that, from an eternal perspective, it’s animals who are the true natives here; while we (at least those who answer the call) are “spiritual beings on a human journey” (Peirre Tielhard de Chardin); and this, as C.S. Lewis often reminds us, is not our true home. Of course, there’s also the simple fact that, as anyone who’s ever loved an animal knows, we don’t own them, they own us. ;>)
