Today’s episode of My Real Memoir has been interrupted by Reality One-Oh-No. My wife and I returned late last night from what should have been a joyful trip to L.A. And it was. Sort of. We attended our niece’s wedding and spent quality time with our daughter, son-in-law and grandcats.
Only one problem: On day two, while picking up a box of terrific pastries at a popular patisserie, I also picked up a box of terrific cold symptoms (or possibly flu).
Result? I spent the remainder of the trip sicker than a British bulldog. And the whole achy, hacky, hurty-throaty, nose-blowing, crawl-into-a-ball-and-moan bit ain’t over yet. So…
May I invite you to take this opportunity to explore my mitchnum opus? People tell me my “nearly-famous” life is a real page-turner. So feel free to scan the episodes or start at the epic beginning of My Real Memoir!

Just God’s way of telling you to slow down and rest. Hope it’s over soon.
Thanks, Rob.
Take care, Mitch. I hope you feel better soon.
Thanks, Tracy.
Oh, no! Sorry to hear that. Hope you are well very soon.
Thank you, Mam.
Sorry to hear that, Mitch. Take care. Get well soon.
Thank you, Miriam.
You’re welcome, Mitch.
Hope you get well soon. Sleep and fluids are the cure…..x
Thank you, and will-do, Janet.
I hope you will take a COVID test. People are still catching (and dying from) COVID-19. Feel better soon.
From “The Boston Globe”: Mass. reports 686 confirmed COVID-19 cases and 4 deaths in a week. See the latest data from Mass. https://www.bostonglobe.com/2020/03/10/nation/latest-coronavirus-numbers-massachusetts/?p1=BGSearch_Overlay_Results
I tested negative for COVID. Thank you, Elizabeth.
Sorry to hear that, Mitch! I hope you feel better soon.
Thank you, Luisa.
You’re welcome!
Hope you feel better soon! Glad that at least you were able to enjoy the wedding before it hit you.
Sadly, no, Carolyn. I was already sick, but took Dayquil and kept my distance from people. Did a lot of airhugs.
Oh, sorry! I sympathize! Years ago, when my bestie was getting married, I woke up sick with the flu. I was in the wedding!! I made it through, but barely. Had tea and crackers at the reception. It was a wedding I didn’t forget! LOL!
I’ll bet!
What do you know, I am suffering from cold too, but have no pastries, none, and am across the whole ocean, in old Europe.
;>( Colds and flus are international citizens.
😩🪻I’m sorry times two, Mitch! I do live under a mask (two when flying, bussing), and hand sanitize often (after years of it, I could now steal a car and leave few identifiable prints), but I’m also a firm believer in a packet of EmergenC after every outing these past 5 years; I swear it has stopped some things in their tracks. I hope you both feel better all over soon. Also, go lock your car. (Kidding!!) Will check out some MT episodes.
EmergenC is good stuff. I also take it after being out and about or if I start to feel something coming on. I have not been sick since I had covid in 2022.
Thanks, Ruth.
Thanks, Carol!
Take care, Mitch. And don’t forget to pray! 🙏❤️
Will do, Gail!
get some rest and hope you’re feeling better soon
Thank you, Beth, working on it.
Travel illnesses are usually the worst. Hope you feel better soon. By the way, “picking . . . pastries . . . popular patisserie.” Your alliteration game is strong, Grasshopper.
You’re right about travel illnesses, and I receive your praise with humble gratitude, Shaolin Master Ken.
Hope you feel better soon, Mitch. Take good care of yourself.
Thank you, Rosana, I will.
I am sorry to hear that. I hope you are feeling much better soon, Mitch!
Thank you, Erika!
Get well soon!
Thanks, Francisco!

Thank you, Carla.
Goodness, Mitch! I hope you get better soon. So many people are ill these days. 😔😔😔 There are a few bugs/viruses going around and yes, the Flu. And COVID is still alive and well also. Ugh!

Thanks, L.G.
I used to get miserable colds about 6 times a year. I found this poem by my dad’s favorite poet cheered me up, because it made me feel like I wasn’t the only one.

Aww, thanks, Annie. Loved the poem!
Let’s have fingers crossed for this Not being Covid ! As you said it is still out there – something that a lot of people seem to forget, or else don’t seem too concerned about it. Hardly anybody wears a mask or does the distancing thing anymore. .
I do, and wash my hands after being where people have been, like the grocery store, bank, etc. Aside from Covid being being able to spread by touch, the same goes for colds and flu, by hands touching door handles, countertops, etc.
I tested negative for COVID, Katie. This is apparently a bronchial infection that is making the rounds currently.
Sending healing vibes your way, Mitch, …I’m just recovering from a virus? Cold? Or whatever, …it makes you feel like you’d like to find whoever helpfully passed it to you and punch them on the nose, …(not really)… but where’s that saying disappeared to, “coughs and sneezes spread diseases ” … so use a hanky, …grrrr, … I’m better now, …hope you will be too…💫🦋💫Penn💫
Thank you for your sympathy–and empathy–Penny!
Hope you feel better soon! Take care.
Thank you, Kelley!
