Just when you thought it was safe to check your inbox, I’m back. And I’m so grateful for your kind and supportive words regarding my one-week-plus blogging breather!
What it was about: I cryptically alluded to a “project” without indicating what it was. Actually, it was two projects:
- Notzilla vs. ? The first was fulfilling an overdue promise to my publisher. I finished developing the storyline for the sequel to my “cult classic” graphic novel (and movie) Notzilla! After all, every self-respecting kaiju (giant monster) needs a “versus.” So this time, “the Son of Mitch” meets his match in an equally cult classic creature — not from Japan, but Great Britain. He also acquires a look-alike baby sister named (what else?) Sequella. And it’s a toss-up which is the greater challenge.
- My other project was a long-delayed trip to Maine’s beautiful “down east” coast with my wife Trudy. We visited one breathtaking site after another, taking too many pictures to count; there are a few samples above (I’ll share more in a future post). Fueled by the best clam chowder and lobster-everything we’ve ever eaten, we walked for miles. And on those walks, my always-writing brain connected the last few monster sequel story dots. Of course, I ran it all by Trudy, who, besides being my best friend and lover, has the best story sense of any person I’ve ever known.
Blessings till it hurts,
Mitch

Notzilla sounds exciting.
Wonderful!
Thanks, Morag!
You are welcome.
It’s good to have you back, Mitch! 😊
Thanks, Aline!
Welcome back
Down East Maine is one of our favorite places. We’ve yet to visit in the fall. Thank you for sharing the beautiful pictures.
My pleasure, David.
Nice sampling of pics, Mitch. I look forward to the next batch. Congrats for completing both projects. That takes focus and discipline. That’s probably when Trudy, your biggest cheerleader, empowers you. 🙂
🧡
I see you had TWO angels in Maine — Trudy, and that blessing *cloud* at the shore! Glad, too, that you found your monster.😊
Thanks, Carol!
Beautiful photos of Maine. I found it has the most spectacular beaches with the coldest water anywhere on even the hottest day.
The Maine coast is certainly spectacular, Pete. But I’m glad we didn’t try swimming.
Did you run into Lunksoos, our Indian Devil? Maybe if you return sometime you can track him down for Volume 3.
No, I’m afraid (or glad?) we missed him, Rick. I’ll be thinking about that for Vol. 3. ;>)
Welcome back, Mitch! Portland Head Light is one of my all-time favorite places!
I can see why, Liz. It and the whole area surrounding it are just inspiring.
My grandparents had a summer cottage in Cape Elizabeth.
How cool is that!
It was magical!
Lovely photos.
Thank you, I.V.
Beautiful 🎁. God bless you.
Thank you, Norma.
Keep up the photos, Mitch. It brings back great memories of the lighthouses in Maine. The walk out to Breakwater Head in Rockland is one of our favorites.
Yep, Breakwater Head is a unque experience, Don.
Welcome back and exciting news.
Oooh we loved Maine when we went last year. Beautiful on the coast and now I am hungry again for their lobster! 😋
Thanks, Carolyn. I’m hungry for lobster too, and it’s been less than a week since we returned!
The warm butter on savory lobster in a roll……So tasty!
A productive break, Mitch!
Thanks, Sandy, it was indeed.
The photo of the trees and their colourful autumn leaves leading the path down to the sea is my favourite. We honeymooned in Maine 33 years ago. We were booked to recreate our trip but then Covid hit. It’s been on the back burner since but those photos..
Trudy took that photo, and it’s one my favorites. Glad to have (possibly) reignited that back burner flame, Nicola.
Taking inspiration from Maine’s rugged coast puts you in the rarified company of Stephen King. Can’t wait to see the final product.
No doubt at all every giant monster needs a versus, Mitch. Sequella is a great name for a sister as well, and the whole project sounds like a fun one. One of these days we’ll get to Maine. These “sample” pictures look like a lot of fun was had there as well!
Thanks, Bruce. Yes, it really is a beautiful place!
Thansk, Bruce. And, yes, it’s a beautiful state!
Did you really hug that, is that Notzilla? Beautiful pictures Mitch. Such a lovely place.
Yep, we took that shot at G-Fest (G as in Godzilla), a giant monster-themed convention in Chicago. The movie Notzilla was previewed there, and Jake who built the suit for the movie, wore it at the festival.
That sounds more than fun, walking among not so giant creatures, with its own time space continuum. You should’ve put up Notzilla too.
Mostly, it was just fans. Only a few attempted to make monster suits, and none on the level of Notzilla. So, everyone wanted their picture taken with him!

We love Maine! Thanks for sharing your adventures.
My pleasure!
So glad you and Trudy got to experience Maine. It is one of my very favorite places. God’s hand at work!
Absolutely!
Photos, a treat for the eyes!
Thanks, Geoff❣
I can’t wait for the finished product. The pictures were amazing. I would love to see Maine. That’s such a beautiful getaway.
It really is a marvellous place to visit, Gregory. And we’ve only seen one part of it.
Sounds productive and relaxing. Love Maine and lobster rolls! Best of luck with the projects.
Thanks, Peggy!
Well deserved break! Gotta have it sometimes!
