Change a Life

conversation

Dear Fellow Believer,

Just a reminder that Jesus never called us to “witness” to others. He called us to be his witnesses.* And not just on Sundays, but 365 days a year. It’s who we are that matters, and who we are comes down to who he is. It’s not so much our job to persuade others of “the facts” as it is to show them our hearts. Has he changed your life? (He has mine.) Start there. Tell them your story. Facts are disputable, changed lives are not.

Changed lives change lives.

Love, Your Brother

*Acts 1:8    Acts 22:15  •  Matthew 5:16

  1. Yes, yes, yes. I think that’s why I went into teaching – to change lives – to connect, console, care, and encourage. I just wrote a draft for a post about this. It’s not the skills teachers impart, it’s the connection that matters most to children. I sometimes forget that teaching is my way of witnessing. Thanks for the reminder, Mitch!

Well shared, Mitch. Reminds me of the passage in Matthew 28 (The Great Commission), which translated properly reads “…as you are going, make disciples…” In other words, live your life (His life!) and in the midst of that, bring others into the Life, too. ~Ed.

  3. You are so right, Mitch. If we’re Christlike in our conduct, others are more likely to be drawn to the serenity of our faith and open up their hearts to the Lord Jesus Christ. 🙂

    I like that thought.

  5. Love this Mitch!! Thank you!!

  6. Pure Glory says:

Yes, brother, nothing speaks louder than a changed life.

  7. Bruce@WOTC says:

So true, Mitch. It is who we are seven days a week, not just one day. And to be sure, we need to share our stories. It can change lives.🙏

  8. “It’s who we are that matters.”–So true! This is the form of witnessing that reached me. I was (and still am) wary of the public preachers in the mall, the door-to-door Jesus salesmen, the hard sell. Loving God isn’t a single decision, but a decision we keep making every moment of every day. It is who we are.

    >>It’s who we are that matters, and who we are comes down to who he is.<< I always say your actions are the only Bible many people will see.

  10. Beautifully expressed! Thank you for sharing, Mitch. 🙏💞

Mitch, nice post. I’m a member of a small book club that meets Monday nights at a local pub. We’re working our way through a compilation of devotionals from historical theologians. Several of the wait staff have become intrigued and last week, the guy lingered at the wait station for like ten minutes. He finally brought the check, then said “I think what you guys are doing is awesome.” 😎 I told him he’d be welcome to join us.

  12. Perfectly said!! Thank you, Mitch! 👍🏻‼️🙌🏻

    Yes!! Well said Mitch.

  15. Yes, He has changed my life in many ways. Jesus is putting me

back together! Very helpful post Mitch. Thanks 😊

  16. Many moons ago I tried witnessing and theoretically speaking got my head handed to me. I now see that we (unless called by God to be a minister) should not do that.

Putting on grace and mercy will attract others thus giving God the glory when we give an answer.

“Facts are disputable, changed lives are not.” Amen. 🙏 We have a God story to tell. We should tell it. Excellent reminder. Thanks for sharing.

Good reminder. There’s more to be said for bearing a cross than wearing a cross. Anyone can sling one around their neck or get a tattoo. We bear his name and will be clothed in glory. We bear His name and we should act like it.

  19. Great post and wisdom, Mitch! “Actions do speak louder than words.”
