Breathtaking Landscapes

This is the first time I’ve featured a single photographer in one of my Friday Photoblogs. Will I do it again? Yes, if I find another photographer whose work I enjoy as much as that of Johannes Plenio! Johannes, who lives in Germany with his wife and three daughters, uses various techniques to, in his own words, “capture everything in God’s wonderful creation!”

Thanks, Mitch. Almost recalls the Hudson River Painters in terms of mythological romanticism. Love it! Callan

    Simply stunning!

  11. Exceptional images!

  12. Thanks, Mitch, for your honest-to-God, sightseeing tour; allowing us to behold our home world’s splendors; akin to a pre-Earth Day ’22 reminder of what humankind stands to LOSE should climate change deniers “WIN”. I especially appreciate your lead photo’s, awe inspiring, starry, starry night. Alas, these days, such a view only comes courtesy of planetariums, coffee-table books and wonderful websites (such as yours).

I still remember lying in a sleeping bag somewhere in the Great Plains (Dakotas, maybe) when I was a kid, and seeing more stars that I’d ever thought possible. Maybe we need a “Save the Stars” campaign.

      • I have similar fond memories, minus the sleeping bag; but, since I’d been stunned into temporary insomnia, anyway, everything all worked out.fine. To get your bright, “Save the Stars” idea off the drawing board, perhaps a cross promotion tapping into the drawing power of big name Hollywood stars?

  13. These are so beautiful and peaceful !!

Some of the best pictures I’ve ever seen; some seem unreal. What a gift to capture our beautiful world this way!

He does do some image manipulation, Karla, although how much and on which pictures is a bit of guess work.

      • K.L. Hale says:

It’s really a gift to be able to manipulate and make it even more beautiful. My editing, and beginning photos, are a bit “lacking”. ☺️

      • mitchteemley says:

True, Karla. And regarding your own photos: your toolkit will continue to grow.

      • Looks like most of the editing of these splendid photos compensates for the gaps between how cameras see things and how people see things, with their hearts as well as with their eyes.  (Fine by me if there is a bit of mild exaggeration here and there.)  Clearly artificial things like the map are nicely done too.

  21. Oh, wow!! Just absolutely STUNNING!!

  22. All of those photos are wonderful!!!

  23. Adelheid says:

    Truly breathtaking!

  24. successbmine says:

They are amazing! Thanks for sharing them.

  25. “A Study in Orange” photo with the sun made me tear up, it’s so beautiful. “A Study in Lavender” with the snow and the full moon just feels comforting. Whatever image enhancement is done, feels like a natural way to convey the energy of nature to people who can’t be in it right now. Thanks for posting this!

    These are incredible!!

  27. Bob Rogers says:

Going through these photos was a mystical experience into God’s glory. Thank you for sharing!
