Ask and You Shall Receive!

Two Hilarious Sermon Illustrations

Pastors, teachers, and drama groups: These two family-friendly comedy scenes are based on actual incidents involving my wife Trudy and me. In them, the fictional versions of us, Rick and Toodie, grumble, love, and laugh their way through shared discoveries about what it means to live a life of faith. Both scenes are now available from my script publisher SkitGuys.com for you to read or perform!

Ask for Directions (two actors, one off-stage voice – 3 to 5 minutes) – While on a family trip, Rick and Toodie learn the importance of asking for directions. A fun, fresh perspective on prayer and pride (also faith, trust, guidance, relationships).

The Dryer Fairy (two actors – 4 to 6 minutes) – At a laundromat after their washing machine gives up the ghost, Rick and Toodie learn to give thanks “in all things.” Great illustration for messages on gratitude, grumbling, and/or relationships. (Note: there’s also an alternative Thanksgiving version.)

  1. Actually, I was working on my communication with God, and Jesus. It is important to read “”Call to me and I will answer you, and will tell you great and unsearchable things you do not know.”
