A Slice of My America

A Slice of My AmericaAll images ©Copyright by Mitch Teemley

Here on the Eve…

…of my country’s 250th anniversary, I thought I’d share a small slice of my America. Trudy and I are from California, and have travelled extensively. But all of these phone-tographs were taken in or near our current home in Cincinnati, Ohio, and feature local history and character. Enjoy, and have a Happy 4th of July!

Clifton Mill is a slice of our America too. We live fairly close to it and a beautiful nature preserve.
    Have a splendid weekend!

Cincinnati – I was there in the early 80-ies… it was a congress about materials requirements planning. I was young, forgot my briefcase on the airport, and someone brought it to me; I was impressed and thought, this must be a peaceful place. I remember an evening aperitif – ice cream was served. I had never seen an ice cream aperitif before, it seemed very American to me. Congratulations on your 250th anniversary.

  19. This piece beautifully captures the tension between gratitude and grief for our nation. The view reminds us that America’s promise is not in perfection but in perseverance—the daily choice to seek justice, mercy, and renewal. May we love her enough to help her heal.

  24. Nancy Ruegg says:

The picture of Clifton Mill reminded me of a mill we visited in Massachusetts. It too included a restaurant, and the upper floors had been turned into a second-hand bookstore. ‘Could have spent all day in there–maybe camped out for a week! So glad you included this location in your slide show. S. and I will have to make a little road trip to Clifton Mill.

  25. Happy 4th of July! 🙂
