Thought for the Week
“I am old and have known a great many troubles, most of which have never happened.” ~Anonymous
“The greatest mistake you can make in life is continually fearing you will make one.” ~Elbert Hubbard
“Worry does not empty tomorrow of its sorrow, it empties today of its strength.”
~Corrie Ten Boom
“Worry means you suffer twice.” ~J.K. Rowling
“Worry is a misuse of the imagination.”
~Dan Zadra
“It’s okay to be scared. Being scared means you’re about to do something really, really brave.” ~Mandy Hale
“Instead of worrying about what you cannot control, shift your energy to what you can create.” ~Roy T. Bennett
“Sorrow looks back, Worry looks around, Faith looks up”
~Ralph Waldo Emerson

Timely, laughter does wonders for worry too. You managed both with this post. Thank you.
My pleasure, Debi.
I have heartburn if I eat cucumber, so I must remember not to eat anyone.
Good plan, Daniel. ;>)
I love the Ralph Waldo Emerson quote, and that’s exactly what I try to do except I often fail!
I like the Zadra quote! (I wanna be one of those svelte English cucumbers, not one with bumps and seeds.)
;>)
did you find the verse in genesis 25:45 he that has everlasting life

Yes!
Nice 😊
Burp!
Great job, Mitch.
Thanks, John.
I love it! Thanks for that needed day brightener, Mitch. Although I am a teensy bit disappointed that you didn’t quote that renowned sage and Mad Magazine coverboy Alfred E. Newman in your collection of worry wisdoms.
I considered it, Russell.
Oh…the wisdom from Emerson…”worry looks around”. I love that phrase. It’s true, I’d say, and a habit that’s worth breaking. Thank you, Mitch. 💕
My privilege, Vicki.
Haha!
This guy is funny isn’t he?😂😂
Excellent advice! I’m pasting some of these to my mirror
I’ve seen the first quote attributed to Mark Twain. The old man one, not the cucumber one.
Yes, Twain is one of a number of people it’s been attributed to.
Perhaps all that water has made my brain mushy, but I always thought the great Mark Twain got credit for the troubles that never materialized quotation—and not that prolific guy Anonymous.
Twain is one of several people the quote has been attributed to, but it goes back before him, and there’s no record of who said it originally.
My search was brief. I’ll yield to the depth of yours!
As a notorious worrywart this made me laugh and also think today. Worry and fear can be good things as they can keep you safe but if you let them control you, you can become their prisoner. How does one just let go of fear when it feels like a real thing that is about to strangle you when you step outside what is known? That is a question I am still working on.
Have I ever mentioned that I am a collector of quotes? Thanks for adding these to my collection.
Happy to oblige, Angie.
Wow Mitch, I will shorten your name because it sounds cool that way. Anyways, I love this blog post infused with quotes and the one about the cucumbers is quite funny. Indeed you are a humorist😂😂🔥🔥💯
Thanks for the inspiring quotes
My pleasure, Mthobisi.
😀🙏Okay Mitch
I love this one!
Thanks, Robert!

My pleasure, Peggy!
I do hope I’m less than 20% anxiety.
