Stumbling Block or Humbling Block?

“Whoever exalts himself will be humbled,

and whoever humbles himself will be exalted.”

The choice is yours.

One hardens you and makes you prouder.

The other softens you and makes you wiser.

⇔ ⇔ ⇔

“Humble yourselves before the Lord, and He will lift you up.”

~James 4:10

Aren’t these two often one and the same, just at different points in our journey. First we encounter the block (person/situation) and we stumble, bumble and flail around until we realize we can not successfully become like Christ on our own. Then the Holy Spirit directs back to the spot where we stumbled and directs us to cry “Help.” Properly humbled (until next time) we can go on our way.

This one is new to me. It is quite profound. Thank you!

  6. There may be a College course covering this concept. Or maybe not. Take the “Self” out and others will make it happen.
