Playful, Slightly Crazy Homes

Work is where we, well, work. But our homes are where we play. So why not let our homes play with us? These houses, furnishings, and decorations do just that. Enjoy!

  2. Mark A Brady says:

I bet an old lady lives in that shoe, and I bet she has so many children, she doesn’t know what to do!

  3. I would be afraid of the red car falling on me.

Mankind is creative and loves to challenge what we think of as “normal.”

  6. Some of them look like they come straight out of a Dr. Seuss book.

  7. 😂😂😂 slightly is an understatement 😂😂😂❤️

  8. If these “fun houses” were all located in a park, it would make a fun tour. 🙂

  9. tidalscribe.com says:

What fun. We had an upside down house in Bournemouth, for fun, nobody lived in it, some people felt sick inside with the sloping floors and furniture hanging from the ceiling.

Do you know the architect Friedensreich Hundertwasser (or Friedrich Stowasser)? He has built some very peculiar houses primarily in Austria and Germany and would fit well into your series.

  11. And I thought tiny houses were wacky!

Such fun to browse through these playful-house pics, Mitch. And I marvel at the creativity of their designers! That pink and purple cottage would be perfect for tea parties and sleepovers with the granddaughters. But I don’t think I could live there. A little too busy for my taste!

Cool houses and furniture…would like to tour a few of these. Lewis Carroll would have appreciated them especially the snail. ~Nan

    Super strange and bizarre!

What interesting creations! Okay, I have three that I really like: the whimsical treehouse, the train house, and the wobbly house. However, the house with the man added to the staircase would scare the daylights out of me at some point because I would forget he’s part of the fixture. Love the post!

These are cool houses. My wife says that if most houses were crazy-looking or round or pyramidal or whatever then I would like rectangular ones just for being different and she’s probably right lol

Ohhh wow!!! Some of these would set off my vertigo lol; others are so cool! We have the Wonky House in Wanaka, South Island, NZ; it has some similar ideas, with a warning at the door, ‘vertigo sufferers enter at their own risk!’ I only saw the ‘safe’ half of the house… my husband and kids thoroughly enjoyed the rest of it 😉

    Great post!!
