Joseph’s brothers sold him into slavery. He was tempted to give in to despair. (Who wouldn’t be?) But he chose instead to trust the God he knew would never abandon him.
Divine irony: Two decades later his brothers came to Egypt in the midst of famine to throw themselves at the mercy of the great Vizier–only to learn he was the brother they had betrayed! Emotionally shattered and fearing for their lives, they begged him for forgiveness. And Joseph replied:

Joseph looked past the duplicity of humans, and placed his trust in God alone. Do we? Do we forgive those who misunderstand us and attempt to harm us, “being fully persuaded that God is able to do what he has promised“? (Romans 4:21) Do we trust that no matter what others may intend, God intends it for good?
“He will never leave you nor forsake you.”
~Deuteronomy 31:8

I want to but it’s tough sometimes, great post
Thanks, L.G., and yes, discipleship training can indeed be tough going at times.
YES! What is intended for our harm, God sometimes allows because He knows He is going to turn it around for our ultimate GOOD. I love that and cling to it in times when evil and injustice (personal or on a larger scale) appear to be winning. God has the FINAL say and we can count on right, love and truth prevailing. Amen. Thank you for this timely reminder.
My privilege, Caroll.
Inspiring ✨️ Thank you for helping us see God’s love.
My privilege, Mishka (do I have your name right?).
Yes! Thank you.
Thank goodness, we are not beholden to the actions of men. Amen!
I second that amen, trE!
👏🏾🙌🏾🙏🏾
These are important passages for us to remember.
A good reminder. Thank you, Mitch
My privilege, Manu.
Amen, Mitch! Joseph is a beautiful example of God’s divine providence.
He certainly is, Pam. One of my favorite examples.
It’s been my experience that God is faithful and always does what he says he will.
Jesus said: Whatever you ask in my name I will do it.
God bless you Mitch. Have a great week ahead.
You too, Cora.
Joseph is such a good reminder of how God can turn the worst things around. He went from being in a pit to royalry! And yes, his open heart to forgiving his brothers pulls at the heart ❤️ Thanks for the reminder!
My privilege, Carolyn.
Amen!
Jon Bloom, in his book Not by Sight, wrote a prayer from Joseph’s point of view as the young man languished in prison: “I will keep honoring you here where you have placed me. Bring your word to pass as it seems best to you, I am yours. Use me!” That attitude seems likely, given Joseph’s eventual reaction to his brothers. And it’s such an attitude that surely made it possible for God to bring good out of malicious intentions. Such an example for us to follow!
Indeed, Nancy. And you’re right–that attitude didn’t just suddenly appear, it was gained through long, hard, prayful experiences.
No matter what! THANK YOU, Mitch! Sound wisdom and truth–divine irony. I trust God! I do forgive and want to continue to forgive. God, help us all!
Bless you, dear Karla.

Great story and Scripture – Deuteronomy 31:8. I always loved the story of Joseph and his brothers. When Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat came to our area in a dinner theater, I saw it at least three times – taking nonbelievers (apathetic at best) with me. A few little concerns in the show, but overall, the message came through.
deuteronomy 56:33 when i am afraid thou shall trust in thee
genesis 25:44 they will answer, lord, when did we see you hungry o thirsty o a stranger o needing clothes o sick o in prison, and did not help thee.
deuteronomy 56:33 when i am afraid, thou shall trust in thee.
romans 4:46 verily i say unto thee, he that has everlasting life.
you meant in verse 25 of genesis 50 says stop lying & tell the truth.

Thank you so much for sharing this Mitch. This is especially meaningful for me. God just used it to speak to me at a crucial time in my life. (Leo)
Awesome, Leo. Keep the faith! (I know you will.)
This is a powerful story. God is a wonder.
He is indeed, Jennie.
Oh, yes!
Great message, Mitch! God bless!
Thank you, Nancy!
Powerful message packed into this short post. Excellent work on putting the Bible verse with the picture, also.
Thank you, Tricia.
