Today is the first day of Rosh Hashanah, the beginning of the Jewish new year, traditionally tied to the birth of Adam and Eve, which is to say the human race. Its biblical name is Yom Teruah, or the Feast of Trumpets, which literally means “the Day of Blasting” or noisemaking.
King David put it this way: “Make a joyful noise to the Lord, all you lands. Serve the Lord with gladness: come before his presence with singing. Know that the Lord is God: it is he who has made us, and not we ourselves; we are his people, and the sheep of his pasture. So enter his gates with thanksgiving and his courts with praise: be thankful and bless his name. For the Lord is good, his mercy is everlasting and his truth endures to all generations!” ~Psalm 100:1-5
Happy New Year, Mitch. I was raised in a Jewish family and this was one of the holidays we actually went to temple.
Praise God, who has made us each unique and wonderfully special.

It’s a nice surprise to see someone posting about Yom Teruah on WordPress. I grew up in a Messianic Jewish synagogue and we still visit off and on and for the High Holy Days like Yom Teruah/Rosh Hashanah. As our rabbi always says, “They’re not the “feasts of the Jews”, but our Lord’s appointed times!” 😀 *insert shofar blasts*
