Together literally means “to gather.” That’s what makes public art public, people experiencing art together. All art invites us to come and see it. But public art comes to us. It invites us to walk around it, or under it, to climb on it, to touch it–together. Maybe because it knows we can’t be fully human without each other. So let’s listen to its message and gather…together. P.S. Don’t miss the quotes after the pictures (below).

“Art should comfort the disturbed and disturb the comfortable.” ~Cesar A. Cruz
“Creativity takes courage.” ~Henri Matisse
“Art enables us to find ourselves and lose ourselves at the same time.” ~Thomas Merton
“I dream my painting and I paint my dream.” ~Vincent van Gogh
“Everything you can imagine is real.” ~Pablo Picasso
“I’m just trying to change the world, one sequin at a time.” ~Lady Gaga
“Art is not what you see, but what you make others see.” ~Edgar Degas

Thank you! Fun
My pleasure, Anonymous friend.
Love all the photos! Nice message as well.
Thank you, Shiny (I’m afraid I don’t know your name).
No worries! ‘Shiny’ works. It’s what others call me as well. And you’re so very welcome! Thank you for sharing 😀 I meant to look up that parade of marionettes/puppets, I need to add witnessing it to my bucket list. 😀 Humans are actually pretty cool. So much art and culture to see out there. I agree, it’s best witnessed together. 🙂
Thanks, Shiny.
Wow Mitch, these are great! The quotes really nail it too.
The giant dog lifting its leg on the building fulfills Bansky’s quote: “Art should comfort the disturbed and disturb the comfortable.” 🙂
The quote is actually by Mexican writer Cesar A. Cruz. (It’s often misquoted as Banksy.)
Thanks for letting me know. 🙂
Thanks, David! I just corrected it.
You’re welcome, Mitch. I was in two minds as to whether to comment, as I dislike correcting people. But, I made the same mistake myself. Hope you are well. Great post, by the way. (I should have commented that first!!)
Nice pics and nice quotes
Wow, some crazy cool stuff!
“Art is not what you see, but what you make others see.” ~Edgar Degas
This is my favorite of all, because it also applies to writing, and especially story telling.
A successful songwriter once said to a room full of us wannabes- “Don’t tell me now you feel, write a story that makes me feel that same way.”
Thanks, Mitch. God Bless!
Two terrific and rather kindred quotes, David.
The songwriter was Steve Seskin, who wrote hits for Tim McGraw and others.
Incredibly imaginative works of art!
My last camera was a OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA. It took the best photos!
I especially like the quotes!
Those are great photos of amazing art. The one with the bodies crammed together reminded me of a horror story by Clive Barker that was featured in his anthology Books of Blood. It was a tradition in a Yugoslavian village (well Yugoslavia does not exist anymore) to create a giant of people stand on top of each other using some sort of structure. This giant of human bodies could walk and move, and they had a parade with this giant once a year. Then one year the giant collapsed. Well let’s just say it was a bloody mess.
!!!
The giant puppets, especially the one showing how the girl walks, are really cool!
I love that the giant ballerina looks like mercury glass!
I’ve seen vid of those gigantic marioneetes walking… so cool!!
I’d love to see them live, Leenda!
Wonderful images and quotes! Thank you!
My pleasure, Lori.
Amazing art pieces. I enjoyed the quotes, too!
Nicely done, Mitch!
Thank you, T.
I love all of this !
I could have lived without seeing the gigantic Spider but loved the rest especially the Cat.
Amazing photos!
Love the unique artwork!
“In Christ!”
I gave you fair warning, Mitch.
Surely you know…you are damned. “In Christ!” And you took it down again…”In Christ.”
Surely you know Jesus failed, and you…as a Christian…PROVED ME “CORRECT!”
YOU FALL…”FOREVER!”
AND THAT IS GOD; Sincerely…at the End Times – And Jesus, My brother in Christ, Started it…by trying to “Pass” humans – Every era that has passed, since then, proves Christians are NOT gentiles; just like THE JEWS that murdered him.
You have no idea, Mitch…what you have done to the “Name” of “Christ!”
Jesus Passed because he loved LIFE; and even loved THE GENTILES. And you…are a narcissist.
I am only narcissistic.
You did not welcome GOD – “LIFE!” YOU REJECTED IT. AND SO…you fall…FOREVER…unredeemed…and unforgiven.
“I do not forgive you; your million and one slights.”
Sincerely…”The one for whom Jesus Spoke.”
JESUS: “I guess he just HATES that Gays are angels, too…and LIKE Mohammed or Jonah, HE (Mitch Teemley) might have some trials…of conscience when he is on his death bed; remembering “I” came to him once – with a million stripes I took for HIM, too…and that he (Mitch Teemley) had powers of persuasion in his congregation…and HE (Mitch Teeemley) refused to let me in as I AM.”
By and for and through the Christ In me, I pray…Mitch Teemley lead so many THROUGH ATTRITION.
Amen
I know that in your more lucid moments you are aware of your mental illness, my friend. You talked about in a couple of previous comments, along with your past as a careworker, and I haven’t deleted those comments. I will continue to pray for you.
How fun! Thank you for sharing!
My pleasure, Amy!
