Thought for the Week
School begins soon (in my hemisphere, anyway). Here are some tips for a last-minute family vacation: Avoid Kafka Festivals, bald sopranos, any town named Weltschmerz, and any place that has No Exit.
“I have an existential map. It has ‘You are here’ written all over it.” ~Steven Wright
“Wherever you go, there you are.” ~Thomas à Kempis
“It is not true that everyone is special. It is true that everyone was once special and still possesses the ability to recover it.”
~Criss Jami
“What am I living for and what am I dying for are the same question.”
~Margaret Atwood
“For small creatures such as we the vastness is bearable only through love.” ~Carl Sagan
“Be a lamp, or a lifeboat, or a ladder. Help someone’s soul heal. Walk out of your house like a shepherd.” ~Rumi
“Carve your name on hearts, not tombstones.”
~Shannon Alder
“If you’re alive, there’s s purpose for your life.” ~Rick Warren
Finally, maybe Ray Bradbury said it best: “Bees do have a smell, you know, and if they don’t, they should, for their feet are dusted with spices from a million flowers.” So go, dust your feet on a million flowers. And don’t forget to smell them along the way!

Carve your name on hearts, not tombstones.”
~Shannon Alder. Sounds almost Biblical. Perhaps it is.
This post is a great start to my week, Mitch. I agree with Criss Jami: “It is not true that everyone is special. It is true that everyone was once special and still possesses the ability to recover it.” Have a wonderful week ahead.
You too, Kellye.
I watched for your quote until the very end!
There’s also:
Austin Powers: There you are!
Random guy: Do I know you?
Austin: No, but there you are!
;>)
Ray Bradbury was amazing. Does anybody write like him anymore? Anybody?
He had a unique voice, didn’t he, Vera.
Ray Bradbury has great wisdom and quote gives something to ponder on.
Quote about everyone being special caught my eye. It isn’t people being special or not. Just opinion and that and a nickel gives 5 cents. It is that people need to remember all are sacred…on the plus side, they did understand that we’ve seemed to have lost that too. Just an off-side comment. Tad tired today…
Oh, that quote from Ray Bradbury is amazing!
Ha-ha, just noticed your ‘funny’ at the end of Bradbury’s quote. Fortunately (in some ways), I lost my sense of smell a few years ago. 😀
Well, glad you’re OK with it, Lesley. Instead of frequently enduring unwanted smells, I suppose that frees you up to remember the smells you enjoyed.
Ah, there are far worse disabilities, Mitch. Things could have got nasty, though, the time I burnt the bottom out of a pan of chick peas because I couldn’t smell the smoke filling the kitchen. Luckily, the smoke alarm went off, which caused our cockatiel to fall off his perch (as his cage is right under the alarm). Everything turned out okay and Edmund soon recovered. 🙂
Glad you and Edmund came through OK!
Great quotes, especially the last bit. Thanks, Mitch.
