Not everyone believes in God or in prayer ⇑ (I didn’t for many years, and quite a few of my friends and family members don’t). So I just wanted to take a moment to say, “I still love you (and so does He).”

Those who don’t have saving faith often believe we hate them because we disagree. But as you point out, we actually love them, and only desire the very best for them.
Hi there,
I would classify myself as a “wannabe-liever.” I have a tiny bit of belief yet, but the more I live and the more I see, I find the concept of a loving god pretty difficult to fathom. However, I appreciate your sentiment.
Hi Southernhon1, lovely to hear from you. I too was a wannabe-liever. Although I can hardly address all your “the more I sees” in a single blog post (or even a dozen), may I suggest you read my three-post “Why I Believe” series? Blessings! https://mitchteemley.com/2019/12/02/why-i-believe-c-s-lewis-and-me-part-one/
“Wannabe-liever.” I like that!
There was a man in Jesus’ time that pretty much fits that description, who cried out, “I believe, help my unbelief!” And Jesus did a miracle for him anyway. (Mark 9:23-25) You might want to try that prayer …
As a believer, I’ve said that prayer or something similar when my faith is rattled. Jesus understands and is gracious.
I appreciate it also 💙
Amen, Mitch!
Faith can be difficult.
It can indeed, Belinda.
What a lovely, generous post Mitch. Thank you! 🥰
My privilege, Vicki.
❤️
I am agnostic. I don’t believe, neither do I not believe.
To be honest, to me it doesn’t matter. I think I live my life well and if there is a god or gods, then they will have a lot of explaining to do, and if there is nothing, then I hope I used my time here on this planet well enough to not have wasted a talent or left out an opportunity to life.
Or was it my turn to say, I still love you too 🙂
I particularly appreciate that last sentence, Bridget.
💖
I really appreciate this post! Sometimes when I pray as a believer I fold my arms over my heart! It takes time to put my hands together to say anything of importance. Faith is hard sometimes but my understanding of a loving God makes believe He understands that too. Thanks Mitch.
My pleasure, and thank you for your thoughts, as well, Sandy.
Thank you for sharing such a poignant thought, Mitch.
My privilege, Nancy.
Good post, Mitch. Short and sweet. I like your picture of a non-praying mantis!
Amen to that! A few of my family members are not believers yet either. But I’m not giving up and I’m not going to stop praying for them. The effectual fervent prayer of a righteous man availeth much. James 5 : 16
Avail away, Cora!
You bet!
You claim to “love” people you’ve never met, and also, to add mega-absurdity on top of this ludicrous and fake assertion, to claim to spread “love” on behalf of some imaginary male deity.
And you seem bent, rather than simply moving on to any of the offerings here on WP with which you might agree, on wasting your time instead, not only reading the work of a religious man but then sticking around to take the trouble to denigrate it.
Gee, aren’t there any babies around you could be taking candy from? Women you could be insulting? Men you could be goading to misery and violence? Guilt trips to lay on people? Dreams to kill? Magical possibilities to step on with denial?
Seems to me, in your general line of work, you’re wasting your talents here…
The post in question from “religion man” was addressed, “Dear Non-Believer.” Response comes from non-believer.
Address your complaint to religion man.
Dear nonbeliever: I’ve met nonbelievers who at least grew up enough to be polite. When that happens to you I’ll read another of your comments. Till then they’re a waste of my time, and will be deleted from my notifications unread.
Mom? How did you get in here?
Best opinion on atheism I’ve ever read anywhere in 63 years ~ including the ones I myself have written (although you might enjoy my verse, “Atheism is a Faith.” 😆)

Have a beautiful day, brother.
Thank you, Ana, you too!
☺️
I went back and read your three earlier posts on C.S. Lewis. I can’t believe I have not yet read “Surprised by Joy,” but I will now! Thank you, Mitch – again. Your words are always inspiring and often bring joy. Happy Easter!
And a Happy Easter to you, Joanne!
My faith in organized religion was tested a few years ago. I did not fail; the church and its priests failed me. However; I remain steadfast in my faith in God and love for him. The location of my church is different; it is now in my heart and my home. I talk to God on a regular basis from the quiet of my room. I do not need a “middle man” to intercede for me; God knows my sins and forgives me. Yes, there are times (like today) when attending Mass would be deeply meaningful. There are times I miss the Eucharist. Perhaps one day if my faith in organized religion is restored, I will return to the church. Until then, I am content to worship in my own way.
Wishing you a blessed Easter, Mitch. ✝︎
Wishing you the same, Nancy!
“I love you… whether you like it or not! DEAL WITH IT!”
Haha, love it. And it’s true.
Thank you, & Mother Nature sends her love to you too. ❤
I’ve always suspected that God cares about less than we think,
and more than we imagine.
Good wishes to you, and happy anniversary!
Thank you, my friend!
