Father of Faith
Lord I have to tell you
That now I understand
How the faith we need to have in you
Is not the point.
It is nothing
Compared to the faith you have in us.
You spun the world,
The universe,
Into buzzing blooming creation,
Brimming with salt seas
And hissing steam
And beasts that clash in dark green forests,
With cataracts sluicing sheer mountain rock.
You spawned and hatched life on dark ocean floors
And turtle fish that dragged themselves to shore,
To ooze and gestate,
Ever slowly to become land locked lizards
With beady eyes and forked tongue.
And then you loved it one more time,
So much that you were born inside your own web of life.
You dreamer fool
You lover of life giving brother
And mother to a caveman’s first ever word of wonder.
Waiting for the gods of rain and thunder to pass,
Trapped inside you were:
A cave like cranium of neurons
That drinks the blood of a beating heart,
A muscle full of microscopic lightning that you set in motion
