And All This Time I Thought…

So, it turns out I’m a master of the ancient and venerated Chinese art of Feng Shui!

imagesAnd all this time I just thought I had OCD.

Note: The above is meant strictly as self-mocking. My OCD is fairly handle-able (although in the past I’ve had some serious issues with anxiety). It even adds something of a silver lining to my writing. But for some, it can be an arduous and life-altering condition.

Cute post. And I get it! I am a counter and a checker 🙂

  2. My daughter once posted a pic on FB that she took of her organized spice drawer. I had been to her home to babysit. She commented that “I always know when my mom’s been here!” So, I can relate to your issues, Mitch! 🙂

  3. Jeff Cann says:

Mitch, thank you for your disclaimer on OCD. I think people need to hear frequently how serious a condition it is.

  4. Terry says:

As a self-confessed OCD-ish personality myself, I totally get it, Mitch!

Good one! I really appreciate you adding that disclaimer about OCD onto the post. There is another blogger I follow who has fairly serious OCD. He regularly laments people using it as a casual, throwaway punch line. It really messes up his life.

  6. Rob Stroud says:

Ah, uber-organization. My poor wife is one of you folks… and she had the misfortune of falling in love with me. I am one of those people who (literally) has a marble engraving in front of me what says “A Messy Desk is a Sign of Genius.” I can’t find it right now, but I know it’s buried here somewhere on my desk…

  7. I can relate, Mitch! I don’t know if it’s OCD, ADD, EDD (Easily Distracted Disorder), or what, but I remember being a kid arranging things at the table while the grownups talked and talked and talked …

  8. Erika says:

I can relate to that well. I love when everything is put nicely in shape, ideally in tetris style. That’s how I love my work places to look like.

  9. Haha, I’m an expert, too!

oh me too, When I laid eyes on the picture it was an instant ‘ooooh’ ! btw when I make or print a text document – it MUST be in the justified margin or my day is all wrong haha

  11. I relate to this so much. lol

  12. Any Element says:

I appreciate your openness and the insight you’ve shared here. It’s powerful to see how you’ve turned something challenging into a part of your creative process.

  16. I think there are times when we all deal with a little OCD. I’m that way about my work, rewriting until it’s perfect, at least to me. I can’t just write and go. I have to stop and correct mistakes, start again, and then repeat.

    ❤️👌

  18. C.A. Post says:

I’m not obsessive-compulsive! I just think we should do everything the RIGHT way‼️🤠

  19. That’s got to come in handy. You can come over and OCD my place when you have time. Also, thanks for the like today.
