Stories with a message. A little wit. A little wisdom. That’s it. Not always funny, but more often than not (I was born with a smirk). I’m a writer, director, composer, filmmaker, and thinker-about-stuffer. Too much for one lifetime, really.
Posting Schedule
- Mondays – Thought for the Week – something I’m chewing on and think maybe you should too.
- Tuesdays – My Real Memoir – I mem often and am not ashamed to admit it. You can read assorted memoir posts by clicking here.
- Wednesdays – (No blog posts – writing and research time)
- Thursdays – Topical Posts – i.e. whatever pops into my head.
- Fridays – Friday Photoblogs – galleries of themed images and quotes.
- Saturdays – (No blog posts – writing and research time)
- Sundays – Eternal Yearnings – short, heartfelt meditations on the infinite.
The Wishing Map – I developed this epic fantasy novel in association with the Walt Disney Company. And now you can read it in episodic form–for free! To begin, click here!
Pastors, Teachers and Group Leaders – You’ll find a wealth of message illustrations and conversation-starters (videos, monologues, scenes) on The Story Shop page! Plus hundreds of sermon and discussion-inspiring posts here!
Guest Speaking
I have guest spoken at conferences, colleges, churches, festivals and cons throughout North America and the UK. For information about booking me, click here.
About Me
I’m a storyteller (writer, filmmaker, composer, public speaker) with the audacity to believe others might actually want to read, watch or hear the things I come up with. I live in Cincinnati, Ohio with my wise and gorgeous wife Trudy. Together we’ve created our magnum opi: two adorable, wildly creative children. More? Well, if you insist: there are mini-bios on me at Wikipedia and IMDb.
Additional snippets can be found in posts under the headings of Memoir and Fool’s Odyssey (a serialized autobiographical poem).
About the Content
I make no claim to being a source of wisdom, but am a frequent carrier and an infector of others. My passion, what gets me out of bed in the morning (besides my wife and hungry pets), is speaking truth into others’ lives. Hence, you’ll find Bible quotes (I’m a Jesus follower), along with direct or indirect references to Pascal, Chesterton, Merton, C.S. Lewis, Evelyn Underhill, and many other scientists, mystics, and storytellers.

I am not actively blogging at this time. What you commented on was an old Blog. I post frequently on Facebook.
Gotcha. Wishing you well, Gigi!

Just to let you know, I nominated you for a “Very Inspiring Blogger” award. There’s no real competition, it’s more of a spread the love sort of thing. https://kattywampusbooks.wordpress.com/2016/04/08/inspirational/
Not sure when I’ll be able to get to it, but THANK YOU so much, Katty!
Ditto on what gets me up in the morning – those hungry pets can be very insistent (Not to mention the hungry teenage son!). Oh, and substitute “husband” for “wife.” Blessings!

Thank you for stopping by A Scribbler & A Shutterbug earlier today! I’m looking forward to reading more of your work, and I’m inspired by your posting schedule. I can be a bit sporadic in posting, and I would like to become more disciplined in that regard. Have a wonderful day!
It helps if you’re obsessive compulsive. I am. ;>)
I found your blog because you liked my poem ‘Orogeny.’ Looks like a nice site, exploring many topics and tones. I’ll have to come by and read more when it’s not dinnertime and I have two under two hungry ones (both daughters too!) God bless you and your family.
Good plan, Amaya! ;>)
I love how you have special days of the week dedicated to posting, very creative!

Honored. However, when I attempt to find your blog site nothing comes up. Is this a pre-launch invite?
Thank you for visiting and following my blog – I am bound by the truth to warn you that you will be disappointed – it is almost moribund at the moment. Except when I feel passionate, or angry, enough to fling some words into the air, there won’t be anything new, only archives about personalities, pictures, events that interest me, a lot of sound and fury.
I am enjoying browsing here.
Hey, sound and fury worked for Faulkner. ;>) Good to hear from you, PJR.
Your blog is very impressive – polished, professional – and then I read your “about” page and it all makes sense. Thanks for the follow. I am honoured.
Thank you, VJ!
I absolutely adore alliteration!!

Thanks for visiting and liking Lost in Sleep.
I like Thomas Merton. I read his Contemplative prayer over and over again and practice seriously. I am reading but not done with The Seven Story Mountain yet. I also like Evelyn Underhill and The Essential of Mysticism. I like mystics. Nice to read more about you and your posts. Oh thank you for visiting my “Delight…” post. I’ll continue my watercolor class this fall (should say this year and on).
Yes, Seven Storey Mountain and Underhill’s Mysticism have both had major impacts on my life philosophy. Good to connect.
Dido. 🙂
I like the way you write your About. I’ll redo mine so it won’t look like a business agenda, haha. 🙂
I’m enjoying your posts! You even got an audible laugh out of me one what feels like one of the worst morning of my life. Thanks for that. I’m also flattered that you’ve enjoyed the few things I’ve posted thus far. I look forward to any comments/insights/smart ass comments you feel led to leave 🙂
Thanks for the Like on my blog.

Thanks for the like on my blog which introduced me to yours. I truly enjoyed your about and was amazed with Its almost Thanksgiving. I will have to admit I was quite impressed with all of the adds and info, however I could not read them all. Its always wonderful to meet another Jesus follower and I will definitely follow you. Sharing His love with others is what I try to do with my thoughts, poetry and photography.
“Sharing His love with others.” No more worthy goal than that. Good to connect, Gay.
I am so imperfect but He loves me as I am. That’s what is wonderful. He is perfect and we just do our best with each day we our given.
