On September 15, 1985, I married the most complicated, beautiful, insightful, godly, challenging woman I’ve ever met. Oh, yeah, and she also happened to be my best friend. Years later, I wrote a 1950s-style throwback song about her (think Buddy Holly) with the opening line:
Trudy-blue, I love you, baby
and I hardly can believe it’s true
that after all these years you’re crazy
enough to say you love me too
It’s still true. Truer, in fact. Way truer.
Love you forever, Trudy-blue.
