Today is my 10th Blogiversary! You’ll find some thoughts on my first decade in the blogiverse below this sampling of images from past posts. But to cut to the chase, it amounts to this: Thank you!!!
“Wow!” That’s what another brand-new blogger named Steven wrote when he reblogged my first post on July 30, 2014. Actually, he wrote the same thing when he reblogged my test post the day before (my official Blogiversary), which read, “Testing, testing, is this thing on? Hello? …tap-tap tap … SQUEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!” That marked Steven’s debut as a blogger too. But then I deleted it (sorry, Steven). So, when I wrote my first real blog post the next day, Steven reblogged that as well, making it his first real blog post.
I know I’m being obsessive about the particulars here, but it seems important to clarify how the legendary The Power of Story site began, in order to avoid any unnecessary disputes among legions of future historians who will no doubt devote their entire lives to chronicling every minute detail of this blog site.
Anyway, I did manage to get past the one-reader-named-Steven stage. So, thank you, dear friends, because you are the reason I’m still here! Steven, on the other hand, never posted again, which is probably because I broke his blog (sorry, Steven). But then, it could be because he actually had something better to do.
I didn’t. And I still don’t. Not because I don’t have other things to do—far from it!–but because I don’t have anything better to do than growing as a writer and a communicator. But most of all, I’m still here because I’m part of a community that I’ve genuinely come to love.
(That includes you, Steven.)
