My Featured Blogger this week is Max (a.k.a. Badfinger) of Power Pop…an Eclectic Collection of Pop Culture. Max is a true aficionado, with an unending supply of fascinating bet-you-didn’t-know stories. He’s a songwriter/musician himself, as well as a fan of baseball, and old movies and TV shows. If he and I were ever in the same room at the same time, we would talk forever!

5th anniversary? You have posts that go back to July of 2014. OOOOOH This was your guest blogger’s 5th anniversary.
Exactly.
Thank you Mitch for the kind words and the reblog!
The honor is mine, Max!
I always like reading (and listening!) to Max’s site. Learn something new there every day!
Big fan of the group. I even named my dog Davy after my favorite Beatle.
How funny, Geo, and I named my dog Ringo after my favorite Monkee!
Congratulations on 5 years! I’m glad you blog, Mitch. Some of the most refreshing stuff I’ve seen & read over my 2 years have been on your posts. Best wishes!
Ooops! Sorry Mitch! Max, congrats on 5 years. Mitch, I don’t care HOW old your blogs are…my sentiment stands!
;>) Thanks, JM.
You can imagine (or maybe know!) the thrill of hearing (grand-/)adolescents right here and now singing along to any Beatles songs I play!
Yes!
So much fun to read! Thanks for sharing…magical memories…and the historical nuggets are delightful. 🙂
My favorite band ♥️
My favorite band, Metric, has a song called “Gimme Sympathy” where part of the chorus asks the eternal question, “Who’d you rather be, The Beatles or The Rolling Stones?” Which I take to mean, would you rather burn fast and bright, or keep going and going and going until you become almost a parody of yourself? They don’t explicitly answer the question but towards the end they do say, “Come on baby play me something like ‘Here Comes the Sun'” …
Back in the 60s people often asked, “Who do you like best, The Beatles or The Rolling Stones. It was no contest for me: the Stones might have been the “world’s greatest rock ‘n’ roll band,” but the Beatles were the greatest band. Ever. Period.
The Beatles make frequent appearances in my stories, especially my earlier work. They are and always will be a part of my life. Seeing them live at Shea Stadium in 1965 was one of the most exhilarating experiences of my life. For me, as I read this post, the one thing that stood out in my mind was “The title should be Why The Beatles Will ALWAYS Be Relevant”!
Yep!
Wow! This guy is a veritable font of Beatles knowledge. And I have to agree with him totally. The Fab Four changed the musical landscape profoundly and permanently.
Happy five years, Mitch! Thanks for sharing this post; I needed a bit of The Beatles today.
Actually, it was my Featured Blogger Max’s fifth anniversary, Juliet, but thank you on his behalf. Happy to provide a needed Beatles fix!
