Whimsy isn’t comedy, though it may make you smile. It isn’t a “message,” though it may make you think. It isn’t meant to confuse, though it may make you scratch your head a bit. It’s all of the above and none of the above. Like allspice, no one’s sure exactly what in it, but we all know that life tastes better with a little whimsy sprinkled in.

“I asked him what he meant by whimsy, and he struggled to define it. He said it’s that nagging idea that life could be magical; it could be special if we were only willing to take a few risks.”
“It was a night when you might expect to stray into a dance of mermaids.”
“For millennia philosophers and saints tried to reason out a logical scheme for the universe…until Hilda came along and demonstrated that the universe is not logical but whimsical, its structure depending solely on the dreams and nightmares of non-logical dreamers.”
“Who told you adulthood couldn’t feel like childhood? Long days of forgetting what day it is. Wanting to be wherever your wings or the wind dropped you. Filled with secrets and chances and whimsy.”

“You must not ever stop being whimsical. And you must not, ever, give anyone else the responsibility for your life.”

The one titled Above and Below is very good!
Yippee for whimsey!
I’ve never quite understood what whimsy was all about, a good definition. This helped, Mitch. Bob
Glad to hear that, Bob. The term really is rather hard to define.
It’s interesting to see the role AI is playing in generating such memes. AI art usually has such an obvious ‘marker’
I think the better AI stuff out there (for now anyway) is probably AI-assisted rather than solely AI-generated.
Cave man selfie cracked me up.
Love the quotes and the whimsical ideas prompted by the pictures. Thanks!
I’m with Rebecca. Loved the caveman selfie. The rest are funny too. Where do you find this stuff 🥸
I have magical Google fingers, Kathy. ;>)
All of them are good. The two Neanderthals’ posing for a selfie is great, as is the princess with the Nike shoes. I think the new AI art is going to change it all. I’ve been a lifelong fan of goofy art and cartoons, such as in The New Yorker, Mad Magazine and The National Lampoon. I tried the AI thing out for writing and it was scary what the little monster program can come up with after only a few words and minor information. The one thing it does not have, is tone, and that will likely be the same with AI artwork. Now we have McCartney doing a song with a long dead John Lennon through AI. Who needs a band, let the computer program do it all. Good post.
Actually, they only used AI to clean up an otherwise unusable recording of John’s voice. The rest is good old fashioned playing and singing. But I’m wary of AI, too, Phil. Hoping we’ll use it as a tool to enhance our own creativity and inventiveness, and not as a replacement. We’ll see.
Love the caveman selfie 🤳
I like the sidewalk art of the cheerleader holding the grass pom poms. It’s the least creepy. 🙂
A lot of great pictures. I found the guy with his head above the ceiling but enlarged inside the room and the woman with the fish to be fascinating.
I’ve done a few whimsical art pieces and it’s just down right fun to create. Love those pictures Mitch. Some of those pic’s were really funny! God bless you and your family and enjoy your weekend!
You too, Cora!
Thanks!
Love, Love, Love these! I was going to say my favorite one is….then I went to the next slide etc. and they are all so clever!!!!! Thank you for sharing these, I really enjoyed them!
My pleasure, Diane!
Fit to Fly is my fav.
The extreme body art Fox 👍
Pretty impressive, isn’t it, PK? It’s four people, I think.
Interesting, I thought I could see five. But was trying to discern if there were two more.
I’ve never stopped to think what whimsy really means… this is great! I think of whimsy as fun and magical✨✨
That about says it, Jeni.
Mitch,
Fun stuff. Love the baby version of many characters.
Thanks,
Gary
I laughed with the (non-AI), “I searched for my dog for 20 minutes.”
