What Is Death?

Inside my computer

 Thought for the Week

I used to think of death as: Delete File and Empty Trash.

Now I think of it as: Save Copy (in the cloud) and meet the Programmer.

“To the well-organized mind, death is but the next great adventure.”
~J.K. Rowling

“Life and death are one thread, the same line viewed from different sides.”
~Lao Tzu

“Though lovers be lost, love shall not, and death shall have no dominion.”
~Dylan Thomas

“At death there’s a break in our linear stream of consciousness, and thus a break in the linear connection of times and places…but consciousness encompasses many branches of possibility (and) death doesn’t truly exist in any of these.”
~Robert Lanza (scientist and biomedical pioneer)

“And he will wipe away every tear from their eyes, and death will be no more, nor mourning nor crying nor pain – they will be no more, for the former things will have passed away.”
~Revelation 21:4

LOVE your thought for the week and the comic is hilarious, Mitch!

  2. Revelation: 21:4 – one of my favorites. Thanks for a nice Monday morning smile.

Wonderful quotes. Haha, love the comic!

  4. Love this. One of the ministers I worked with was asked it we could be creamated or does our body need to be intact. His answer was “personally I hope to upgrade.””

  5. Great post!!!

  6. Amen, brother Mitch. Even more meaningful for us old codgers.

Ironically, your (great) post made my computer nearly crash when I attempted to go to the link on the email. I actually got a screenshot of “throbber” superimposed over that great cartoon. I uploaded it so you may be able to see it here: https://mereinkling.net/irony/

  8. I love this thought. I love more the fact that I am an inheritor of Paul’s promise from 1 Corinthians that reminds us, “When this perishable body puts on imperishability and this mortal body puts on immortality, then the saying that is written will be fulfilled: ‘Death has been swallowed up in victory.'” (1 Corinthians 15:54, NRSVU). Hallelujah!

  9. Thanks for sharing these amazing quotes. Anita

  10. “save copy and meet the programmer” has made my day, Mitch. Good one.

Really great quotes Mitch. Uninterrupted consciousness, very interesting thought. Lazarus sleeps, like we all will ..Job’s declaration of faith that we shall see HIM at the end…kinda makes sense now.
    Funny cartoon as well. 🙏😜

“Most assuredly, I say to you, he who hears My word and believes in Him who sent Me has everlasting life, and shall not come into judgment, but has passed from death into life.” Jesus, quoted in John 5:24

revelation 46:04 says the lord is my refuge & strength

the lord is helper at sin

  16. Dawn Minott says:

Love this. Death is but a sleep till God’s children are resurrected to be with Him.

  17. gpavants says:

    Mitch,

I have found myself looking at life and wondering if I lived it right. You have to put it all back into God’s perspective for sure. It’s where. We are in life.

    Thank you, Gary

  18. I especially love the last quote, which is one of my favorite quotes in all of Scripture. And yes, everyone will meet the Programmer, and then go to either one place or the other.
