Reality isn’t all it’s cracked up to be. Our external senses don’t tell us everything, just enough to function in the world around us, to pretend it’s orderly and makes sense. But meanwhile, there’s a whole other world inside of us, in our thoughts, our dreams, our imaginations. And in many ways it’s every bit as real as the external world our limited senses perceive. These manipulated, or in some cases accidentally captured, images playfully, darkly and thoughtfully reflect that inner world.

“Reality is merely an illusion, albeit a very persistent one.” ~Albert Einstein*
“Reality doesn’t impress me. I only believe in intoxication, in ecstasy, and when ordinary life shackles me, I escape, one way or another. No more walls.” ~Anaïs Nin
“Reality leaves a lot to the imagination.” ~John Lennon
“Reality is frequently inaccurate.” ~Douglas Adams
“Most people believe the mind to be a mirror, more or less accurately reflecting the world outside them, not realizing on the contrary that the mind is itself the principal element of creation.” ~Rabindranath Tagore
“The most beautiful thing we can experience is the mysterious. It is the source of all true art and all science.” ~Albert Einstein
*Likely a paraphrase of his friend Swiss-Italian engineer Michelle Besso’s words.

I don’t know who Anais Nin is, but I have a feeling (s)he has never encountered the reality of God’s love (power, wisdom, etc) in Christ. All the intoxication in the world can’t surpass that reality. 😉
No, she was not a believer, Annie. And, although I like the quote, I agree with you.
How nice to be able to hold a giraffe in my hand….

Fab images and quotes, Mitch!
Thanks, Terry. I enjoy curating these Friday photoblogs.
Awesome photos. I would not mind having a cat that looks like a caterpillar I could wrap it around my neck on cold days.
:>) Always thinking practically, Rasma.
Such fun photos, Mitch! How amazing to contemplate there’s no end to what the human mind can imagine or create. And how wonderful that God saw fit to give us such a gift.
I couldn’t agree more, Nancy.
Lovely creative saunter through childlike joy and unexpected perspectives.
Thanks, Mitch.
My pleasure, Anne.
Lots of fun-and creepy!-images here, Mitch. 🙂
Fascinating collection!
Somtimes, the modern world doesn’t make any sense

As usual, all great pics
Glad you enjoyed it, Pete.
Aw, the beauty in the mysterious. Each one of things “speaks” to me. Thank you, Mitch, for sharing this! I love the “leaves” on the tree!
My pleasure, dear friend.
💗
Great and unusual photos!
So glad you enjoyed it, Peggy!
I’m sorry to say that AI is taking the fun out of these photo collages. When any image is possible, the most impossible shots become mundane. 🙁 I’m probably just a cranky old dude.
Yeah, that’s probably it, Jeff. ;>)

To be sure, the spiritual realm is more real than the physical realm
Mitch, are these amazing images to be shared?
As far as I know, Nancy. I found them at various sources online, so it’s hard to check.
