We’re 2/3rds of the way through 2024!
So, how’s your Plan for the Year going so far?

Thought for the Week
“Life is what happens to us while we’re making other plans.” ~Allen Saunders (often misattributed to John Lennon)
“The best laid schemes of mice and men go oft astray.” ~Robert Burns
“Spontaneity is one of the joys of existence, especially if you prepare for it in advance.” ~Alan Dean Foster
“Imperfect action beats perfect planning.” ~Sharon Pearson
“You can’t plow a field simply by turning it over in your mind.” ~Gordon B. Hinckley
“No matter what the work you are doing, be always ready to drop it. And plan so as to be able to leave it.” ~Leo Tolstoy
“When things don’t go according to plan, plan according to how things go.” ~Kayambila Mpulamasaka
“It does not do to leave a live dragon out of your calculations, if you live near him.” ~J.R.R. Tolkien
“It’s a funny thing, how much time we spend planning our lives. We so convince ourselves of what we want to do, that sometimes we don’t see what we’re meant to do.”
~Susan Gregg Gilmore

Heck, I thought I had had too much to drink on New Year’s Eve but I guess January is long gone. When we got to May I thought someone was playing an April Fool’s on me. Then came the intolerably hot summer in Florida and I just gave up but if anyone says Ho Ho Ho too soon I am going to punch them in the nose and I don’t care if they’re Santa Claus LOL Time goes by much too quickly, I hope you have a great week ahead,
;>) You too, Rasma.
Susan Gregg Gilmore’s quote packs a big punch. Thank you for sharing it and the other runner ups. All good! 🙂
My pleasure, Nancy.
Oooh. That’s one depressing cartoon.
Point taken, though, dealing with the vicissitudes of life as they come.
I do take a wee bit of comfort, however, in the fact the mice have a flashlight… they may find a (safe) way out.
;>) You’re a true glass-is-half-full (or is that “snake-is-half-full”) kind of guy, Rob.
Oh my! 2/3? I guess so and that leaves me a bit befuddled. Where did it all go so fast?
This year is flying by way too quickly. Christmas stuff are already out in some stores. 😆🤣
I’m right on schedule, taking account that I am typically behind schedule and that I don’t really need to schedule things too tightly at this point in my life. I am plugging away at the final edit of my upcoming book, only about three months behind by self-imposed deadline. Not bad! Maybe out by Christmas.
Yay!
Going into my third year of retirement I tend to blur my days of the week, let alone months. Calendars aren’t as important as they used to be. My goodness, my office calendar is still on July!
Pick your favorite month and stay there as long as you like, Pam. You’ve earned it!
We all sound like “old people,” don’t we! #aginggratefully
Yep, especially the 20-year-olds.
Time flies past very fast. I love that cartoon.
Sorry, what? We were supposed to have made a Plan For The Year?
;>)
2024!?! What happened to 2019? I was just getting used to that year.
Oh, boy, I hate to have to tell you this, Andrew–maybe it’s just as well you missed it–but there was this thing called COVID in 2020, and then there’s inflation and political madness and …
wow — glad I’ve missed all that!
This one is my favorite: “It’s a funny thing, how much time we spend planning our lives. We so convince ourselves of what we want to do, that sometimes we don’t see what we’re meant to do.”
Me too, Mary, that’s why I closed with it.
Love the final quote! One of my favorites is “if you want to make God laugh, tell Him your plans.” Thanks for sharing, Mitch!
My pleasure, Peggy!
A very beautiful philosophy. Have a good day and good luck, my dear
Thank you, you too.
:):)
Great quotes!
Very interesting thoughs and ideas Mitch.
I’m pretty confident thst my plans for the rest of the year will lead to success.
I gave God a job and He has been exceedly, abuntly faithful.
Have a great rest of the week, Mitch and Gid bless you and your family!
I can totally relate to the quote by Alan Dean Foster.
