Unexpectedly Beautiful

We all appreciate classical beauty, perfection as it were. But there’s something about the unexpectedly beautiful, the asymmetrically symmetrical, the imperfectly perfect that resonates more deeply with us. Perhaps it is because we sense that, although very few of us are the former, all of us are capable of becoming the latter.

“He has made everything beautiful in its time.” ~Ecclesiastes 3:11

These are all beautiful. The one with the umbrella took my breath away. The distortion yet the extreme clarity… the smudged colors with no defined edges brightening the whole shot. It was one of the most beautiful things I have seen in a really long time

  4. The little girl carrying the toddler. Just posted today about my trip to Bosnia 20 years ago right now (57th birthday there) with a family who came to Iowa as refugees. There are a couple of very poignant photos among them. (And the boy who was 6 when I was there, who leaned against my knee to try to communicate, spotted the post first thing this morning. He’s still an awesome communicator now, thankfully for me, he has a great command of English, although my website now (as of two weeks ago) sports translating even in Bosnian.
