The Cross as a Way of Life

To die to self, to keep the old nature nailed to the cross. It’s such a battle, isn’t it? And yet, in the end it turns out to be not just any battle but the battle. If we win this battle, Jesus tells us–or rather if we allow him to win it in us–we win the entire war. And then the whole world wins.

“If anyone would come after me, they must deny themself, take up their cross daily and follow me. For whoever wants to save their life will lose it, but whoever loses their life for my sake will save it.”

~Luke 9:23-24

Get so involved in praise and thanksgiving, in extending grace to the world, that you don’t even think about the desires of the old nature. You can’t fight it, you must replace it.

  2. A tribute to selflessness. Thank you

    Amen

    Truth!

  5. I call this stuff God math: last is first, take away and something will be added. This only happens in the University of Heaven, where one can get a degree that surpasses all earthly PhDs.

  6. SanVercell says:

My word for the day! Thanks, Mitch.

  7. I’ve been thinking about life, the ego, and how sticky it all is Mitch. Yesterday travelling for hours along the road in that not there yet state I thought many things but mostly – the place you are when you have just woken up and don’t know what day it is yet and the problems are all still snoozing under the bed and if we could just stay there…or at least realise that our story is made up and taken up each day and we can squeeze into the gap and do a bit of sorting – prioritising before the fantasising begins. Well that would be something.

  10. To put yourself on the cross and die to self is true victory

  11. Paul so honestly addresses the challenge at the end of Rom7… “a different law… waging war against me… what a wretched man I am… who will rescue me…”. And then the Spirit speaks into his heart the immediate answer… “Thanks be to God through Jesus Christ”
    “I am crucified with Christ – Yet I Live…”
