“Those who exalt themselves will be humbled,
and those who humble themselves will be exalted.”
~Matthew 23:12
One hardens you and makes you prouder.
The other softens you and makes you wiser.
The choice is yours.
“Humble yourselves before the Lord, and he will lift you up.” ~James 4:10

It’s a lot less painful for me to practice humility than it is to be humbled!
Thanks for the good word today!
Right you are, Scott!
Thanks for the reminder! 🙂

This post sent me back to my journal for a noteworthy Mitch Teemley quote:
“The opposite of humility isn’t pride, it’s delusion. Without humility we cannot see things, especially ourselves, for what they truly are.”
The bottom line is, everyone has a blind spot (or two); so, it’s best to make humility our default setting.
If I may be allowed to share a wise quote I just read: “Everyone has a blind spot (or two); so, it’s best to make humility our default setting.” Very true, David.
I’m trading quotes with Mitch!
But I’ll stay humble about it.😇
;>)
What wisdom, to soften our hearts, with humility!

😊
Absolutely!!! So true! This was a topic among our Greeters at church this morning. Humility sure doesn’t come natural to the natural man… it’s a daily choice. I’m not sure where I heard this quote… “Humility is not thinking less of yourself, but not thinking of yourself at all.” Kind of goes along with the two greatest commandments, to love God and love others. Thank you for the post, Mitch… I can always use a ‘humility’ reminder…like every day! 🙄
Me too, Dori!
I’m sorry. I tried to reblog this but it didn’t work. If I get time I will try again.
I think I managed it!
WordPress can be so exasperating at times! Thanks for hanging in there, Daniel (or do you prefer Danny?).
Really liked this!
Love, Mehak
Staying humble is so hard this days especially in a world that glorifies self, thank you for the reminder. I learnt the hard way.
A great reminder!
Yes, He will in due time. Remember what happened to Joseph….his brothers sold him into slavery and God lifted him up in the eyes of Pharaoh and put him in charge of all of Egypt. Genesis 41:37-49
When it’s your time to be lifted up by the Lord you will shine.
No one and nothing can stop you from doing what it is that God created you to do!

Either name does for me, Mitch, but thanks for asking.
Love this!
