Tend to Your Roots

“The death of a dream is often a subtle form of idolatry. We lose faith in the God who gave us the big dream and settle for a small dream that we can accomplish without his help.” ~Mark Batterson

That’s a great quote! Definitely something to ponder.

  4. Dream Deferred

What happens to a dream deferred?
    Does it dry up
Like a raisin in the sun?
    Or fester like a sore–
    And then run?
Does it stink like rotten meat?
    Or crust and sugar over–
    like a syrupy sweet?
    Maybe it just sags
    like a heavy load.
    Or does it explode?

    Langston Hughes

  5. Good scripture to pair with the quote. There is some meaty wisdom in the Mark Batterson quote, it’s an excellent one to ponder on awhile.

“. . . a small dream we can accomplish ourself.” What a powerful phrase! God, help us to realize we really cannot – not at all – save ourselves.

I don’t read this entry as trusting the lord with your life. Rather trust yourself to make your own dreams come true.

    Mitch,

Dreams can’t be easily killed or at all when we give them to the Lord. Plus isn’t it true only the Lord makes them come true.

    Thanks,

    Gary
