Although summer is the traditional vacation time, my wife and I prefer fall getaways when we can walk in cool air amidst technicolor leaves under cloud-strewn skies. Here are some autumnnal scenes we’ve captured in the last two years. Have a colorful weekend!

My sister and I went from IL to Georgia, in October 2 years ago. We had a wonderful time, and the weather cooperated to make it memorable. I loved seeing all of the autumn colors while we visited Zoos, Aquariums, interesting eateries, and other sites that weren’t local, but fun to visit. I’m with you, as autumn is my most favorite season of all.

We’d actually planned to, Annie, but couldn’t squeeze in enough time this year. We also realized we needed to book a hotel or B&B much sooner– Northern Michigan has quite a rep for autumn beauty!

I love it when the trees are green, orange, yellow and red all together, so pretty. The photo of the waterfalls over the cliffs with the little bridge is great, makes we wanna go there !
That’s Rainbow Falls at Watkin’s Glen State Park in upstate New York, a beautiful gorge (and charming town) at the southern edge of Seneca Lake.

Ohio and West Virginia have some beautiful fall colors. The only thing about living in Cinci that I could never get past is, the noodles in their chili. What is up with that?
I’m not a native, Phil, but I am a fan of Cincinnati chili. It’s not that unusual to serve chili on noodles, btw; I used to eat chili on noodles at Bob’s Big Boy in California when I was a kid. But Cincinnati’s chili is different. Invented by Greek immigrants, it’s made thin for ladeling over things like noodles and coneys and has a unique Greek-inspired flavor.
Yeah, the chili itself is good, I used to order it without the noodles. Also, LaRosa’s Pizza in Blue Ash, one of my favorites. Our son-in-law competes in Terlingua Texas every year in the chili and BBQ cookoff, now he makes some good ole spicy hot Texas chili.
Yep, I’m a fan of Texas chili too!

Watkin’s Glen is beautiful, Nancy, but not that large. A day will do it. We did some wine tasting along Seneca Lake as well (there are also boat tours and other activities), and visited Niagara Falls on the same trip.

Absolutely gorgeous! Autumn is my fav. And yes, the cooler temperatures make it the perfect time to travel.
I was in Philly last week and saw all the trees beginning to change color. In Fort Worth we actually have Fall for a weekend every year! I miss the beautiful colors.
