You Are My Allegory

It’s no great wonder we should think in metaphors

Our lives here are but parallels to something more

Still, lacking that more perfect world, we call this Life

and mend our broken wings and salve each other’s strife

Until that day arrives when we become complete

you’ll be my favorite allegory, dear, replete

with dreams that are entwined in mine, and thinking of

your face I’ll know I’ve had a glimpse of perfect Love

    Such a lovely sentiment! And captures an idea I’ve always had trouble communicating: that the dreamers and the romantics aren’t detached from reality, they simply recognize that reality is but an allegory for the real reality.
