Saturday chores: This is just so wrong. My wife expects me to vacuum before there’s any actual proof of need! When I do something I want to know I’ve made the world a better place, rescued it from imminent destruction. I want to part the dirt like Moses (well, OK, God) parted the Red Sea! “Give me something I can see!” I shout. “But this business of vacuuming by faith–well, darn it, it’s simply got to stop, woman!”
Of course, I never actually say this aloud. I’m lazy, not stupid.

Profound insight. Lazy, not stupid. Greedy, not stupid. Vicious, not stupid. Frightened, not stupid. In so many ways, we KNOW better than we DO. Of course, there’s also willful ignorance…
Guilty as charged. But awfully cute.
Am assuming your spouse agrees :).
To all of the above? I suspect she does.
LOLOL! 🙂
My husband likes to vacuum. It’s the only housework he’ll do, probably because it involves a noisy machine. 😉
PS If you really want to see what you’ve accomplished, empty the bag when you’re finished.
Aha! And that’s where I’ll find Pharaoh and his chariots? Thanks for the tip!
Ha Ha! Start with an empty vacuum then empty it after you are finished. You will see the need was there. (especially if you have dogs) LOL
Cat. So, yeah, point made, Ruth. ;>)
External rewards versus intrinsic?
Oh, so now we’re back on faith again? ;>)
Faith is always present😉Cleaning, Godliness—it’s all connected, right?
Not in my book!
Making the vacuum lines in the carpet is what’s important. It has nothing to do with dirt. 😉
Precisely, but the more dirt the better the lines. Which is why it’s important not to do it too often!
That is a good rationale. How did it work with your wife?
Not a chance. She’s irrational that way.
😂

I once told my wife, “If the dirt’s not actually moving, why disturb it?”
The doctor says I’ll be able to see normally again once the swelling goes down …
;>) You’re a funny man, Andrew. Foolish, but funny.
Ha! Ha! Or you can do as my husband did… hire a cleaning company to come once a month…to help your wife, of course. 😉
Haha. “I’m lazy, not stupid.” Smart man. Lol.
Oh happy day! My husband bought me an I Robot Roomba. Do you think he had an ulterior motive?
Is the Pope Catholic?
Made me chuckle
This is funny. And your post is too! 😉
;>)
Mitch, There is little difference between dirt in the rug and that of dirt behind the scenes. If you get it the first time, it will always come back.
Haha. 😀
The need, my friend is that to keep her happy. Even if it was as clean as a surgical unit, if she says to vacuum, just do it. The perks come later…
Ha! Love it!
Smart man!😄
Wise man, loved it!
Hi Mitch,
It’s a job that sucks, but we do it because we love our wifeys and a clean house. PS I actually like that sucky job.
In Christ,
Gary
You’re welcome to vacuum our house any time, Gary.
It’s better than scrubbing toilets. Vaccuming is so easy now we have a single story.
